Rain (Second Waiting): Wen Dun Fei Riding Chi Chi

In September of the 13th year of Jian'an, Liu Cong ordered the Xiangyang city gate to Cao's army, and he and the civil and military officials in Jingzhou personally greeted him at the gate and officially surrendered to Cao Cao. However, Cao Cao issued an order for Zhang He's army to attack Fancheng in full before entering Xiangyang City.

When Zhang He, disguised as a Jingzhou army, led his army to the suburbs only fifteen miles away from Fancheng, Zhang He, who had been through many battles, felt that the atmosphere seemed unusual. Just when he ordered the cavalry to retreat quickly, he was suddenly attacked by ambushers led by Zhang Fei. Although Zhang He's army was brave and good at fighting, it was difficult to resist without any defense, so he retreated one after another.

At the same time, the rear team led by Zhao Yun appeared in the rear of Zhang He to block his retreat. Zhang He led the army to raise his gun to fight Zhao Yun. The two of them went back and forth for dozens of rounds, but they still had no choice but to win. In the end, Zhang He barely jumped out of the encirclement of Zhao Yun and Zhang Fei and withdrew back to Deng County in a hurry.

According to Zhuge Liang's arrangement, Zhang Fei and Zhao Yun of Zhang He were successfully ambushed Zhang He and Zhao Yun in the northern suburbs of Fancheng. After the victory, they returned to Fancheng to report. When they returned to Fancheng, they found that the soldiers and officials in the city were busy. From Sun Qian's mouth, they learned that Liu Bei had ordered the evacuation of Fancheng to Jiangling, which made Zhang Fei very puzzled.

After quickly rushing to the conference hall, Zhang Fei questioned Liu Bei and Zhuge Liang despite Zhao Yun's obstruction:

"Lord, military advisor, we just hit Zhang He hard outside the city. Now we are in a strong morale. After our years of operation, Fancheng has been in a strong city defense, easy to defend but difficult to attack, so why should we retreat?"

Zhuge Liang explained: "The reason we defeated Zhang He was because of the information in front of us, so we were prepared to catch Zhang He off guard. If we fought against him in front of him, it would be difficult to win quickly. What's more, Liu Cong sent Song Zhong to inform his lord that he had surrendered to Cao Cao, and Cao Cao's army would soon pour in. Even if Fancheng is strong, it is still an isolated city. Instead of waiting for Cao Cao to surround him, it would be better to retreat on his own initiative."

After hearing Zhuge Liang's explanation, Zhang Fei was unable to argue. Liu Bei pulled out the military order from the sign and handed it to Zhang Fei:

"Yide, the situation is complicated at the moment. I didn't listen to the military advisor's words and retreated from Fancheng early, which made me now fall into a passive situation. You and I should learn from the lessons. Follow the military advisor's words, otherwise it would be difficult for us to survive this level."

Zhang Fei, who has always been the most sincere to Liu Bei, obeyed Liu Bei's persuasion. After taking the general order with both hands, he bowed deeply to Zhuge Liang and apologized: "I just asked the military advisor not to blame him. In the future, if any military advisor is sent, Yide will obey his orders!"

Zhuge Liang stepped forward and stretched out his hand and gently raised Zhang Fei's arms:

"I would like to ask Yide and Zilong to lead the cavalry behind the city, and the lord leads his personal soldiers first."

Liu Bei politely declined Zhuge Liang's proposal:

"After learning that Cao Cao was about to come to Fancheng, the people in the city expressed their willingness to evacuate with us. Since they believed in me, Liu Xuande, I would protect them from leaving safely, so I personally led the cavalry behind the hall, Yide and Zilong made the way first."

When Zhang Fei and Zhao Yun heard that Liu Bei loved the people so much, they were moved by it and asked to accompany Liu Bei to the rear.

Zhuge Liang, who was standing by, always stared at Liu Bei. After Zhang Fei and Zhao Yun received the order, he walked to Liu Bei and whispered: "My lord is thinking, and Cao Cao came to the expedition and would definitely implement pacification strategies for Jingzhou to attract people's hearts. Thousands of people in our hands who were incited by you to escape together will become our amulets, but if Cao Cao..."

"Why don't I know what the military advisor said?" Liu Bei interrupted Zhuge Liang:

"This matter is good for us no matter what. If Cao Cao cares about the safety of the people during the pursuit, he will not kill him. In this way, he can win us a chance to breathe. If Cao Cao does not hesitate to slaughter the people in order to capture me, Liu Bei, we can still leave the people and escape alone at that time, and Cao Cao's reputation will spread quickly in Jingzhou."

After saying that, Liu Bei bent down and picked up the helmet on the table and put it on his head:

"I have experienced too much and faced too many difficult situations to make a decision. This has led me to summarize a truth, that is, hesitation will only make me miss the opportunity to live..."

Looking at Liu Bei's back as he left the conference hall, Zhuge Liang felt a sense of coldness in his heart. He had long before that Liu Bei was not a gentle, generous and upright lord and righteous man on the surface. He could not become Cao Cao's opponent with this alone. However, today he saw with his own eyes that Liu Bei actually used tens of thousands of people as his shield...

"It's so interesting..." An unnatural curve appeared on the corner of Zhuge Liang's mouth...

The news of the failure to attack Fancheng reached Xinye, which made Cao Cao very angry. He did not expect that Liu Bei could have predicted his and Cai Mao's plan and set up an ambush on the road that Zhang He had to pass outside Fancheng in advance.

Although Sima Yi, who was sitting next to Cao Cao, did not have any abnormal expression on his face, he felt secretly glad for this. When he raised his head, he found that his eyes directly connected with Jia Xu's gaze. Looking at Jia Xu's strange and unpredictable eyes, Sima Yi was very afraid that he would see something flawed again, so he quickly lowered his head.

For this reason, Cao Cao changed his mind and decided to enter Xiangyang City early, and formally sent Zhang Liao to Deng County to support Zhang He, and attacked Fancheng again. Sima Yi had already discovered in his heart that Cao Cao's actions were meaningless, because from his understanding of Zhuge Liang before, he would definitely persuade Liu Bei to escape from Fancheng as soon as possible after his victory, and the direction of their escape must be...

"Prime Minister, I believe that the attack on Fancheng at this time has lost its strategic significance. Liu Bei's goal at this time must be to quickly flee south to Jiangling. Because Jiangling has a lot of supplies and food, the Prime Minister should send the most elite tiger and leopard cavalry to pursue Jiangling after entering Xiangyang. He will definitely catch up with Liu Bei after traveling day and night."

Just when Sima Yi guessed the direction that Liu Bei could not escape, Jia Xu's words not only made Cao Cao suddenly realize, but also shocked Sima Yi. For this reason, the pen in his hand almost fell off due to the shock in his heart.

When he met Jia Xu's eyes again, Sima Yi felt more and more that he had noticed his true purpose...

In order to indirectly stop Cao Cao, Sima Yi reminded Cao Cao as a counselor and said:

"Prime Minister, I heard that Liu Bei was following the people in the city when he fled Fancheng. If our army pursued him rashly, it would inevitably hurt the people. This is contrary to your policy of "being gentle with Jingxiang and conquering people's hearts."

Cheng Yu keenly saw Liu Bei's sinister intentions in doing this:

"Liu Bei did this to stop the Prime Minister from pursuing him. If we give up, it will be a perfect match for him. Jiangling is an important strategic and dangerous point in Jingzhou. In addition, Nanjun, Changsha and Liu Qi in Jiangxia are all places where Liu Bei has a wide influence. It will be difficult for us to capture him when he gains a foothold there."

Sima Yi faced two major advisers under Cao Cao's sect and knew in his heart that it was impossible to convince Cao Cao to give up the pursuit. If he intervened too much in this matter, he would doubt himself, so he had to temporarily stop.

After entering Xiangyang, Cao Cao received news from Zhang Liao and Zhang He, who were in Fancheng, that Fancheng had become an empty city and all the supplies in the city were emptied. Cao Cao, who realized that he was one step slower than Liu Bei, did not hesitate much. He asked Cao Ren to stay in Xiangyang, while he and Cao Chun personally led 5,000 tiger and leopard cavalry to pursue Jiangling.

In addition, Cao Cao also sent Zhang He's troops equipped with Hebei cavalry to set out quickly from Fancheng and marched together to attack Liu Bei.

At the same time, Liu Bei, who fled south, met Liu Feng, Wei Yan, Mi Fang and others who came to meet him one after another. In addition, the people who were afraid of Cao Cao's cruelty along the way because Liu Bei passed by actively raising momentum, and Liu Bei and his group had reached 100,000, but most of them were people. According to Liu Bei's personal deployment and arrangement, he and Zhao Yun personally led 2,000 people from the palace, Zhang Fei and Wei Yan led 5,000 cavalry as the vanguard, and Liu Feng and Mi Fang were on the left and right wings, and the people were in the middle.

However, what Liu Bei did not expect was that Cao Cao would travel starry night and approach him quickly with a speed of 300 miles a day. When Liu Bei's men had just arrived at Changban in Dangyang County, the tiger and leopard cavalry led by Cao Cao had already caught up with Liu Bei.

Unprepared Liu Bei could only respond hastily, but nearly 10,000 people were defeated by only 5,000 elite tiger and leopard cavalry. Seeing that it was difficult to resist Cao Cao's offensive, Liu Bei led a few cavalry to quickly meet with Zhang Fei from the people.

The people lost Liu Bei's protection and were deeply influenced by Liu Bei, so they went into chaos, which hindered Cao Cao's pursuit. Cao Cao, who was determined to capture and kill Liu Bei, did not care about so many people, and ordered those who did not follow him to be killed without mercy.

For a time, corpses were everywhere in Changban, and countless people were slaughtered by Cao's army.

When Zhao Yun, who was guarding Liu Bei, learned that Liu Bei's family was trapped in the rear, he immediately turned his head and rushed back with several followers. He kept searching for Liu Bei's family among the broken walls and corpses, until he found Mrs. Gan, who was already in tears and trembling all over the wall.

"Madam, Zhao Yun is late to save the car!"

Seeing Zhao Yun coming, Mrs. Gan was relieved, but she grabbed Zhao Yun's arm tightly and said to him:

"General! Adou is gone!"

When he heard that Liu Bei's only biological son Liu Chan had lost his trace, Zhao Yun said to his side:

"You escort the wife and the lords first, and I'll go find the young master!"

After saying that, Zhao Yun stepped on the white horse and continued to search for Liu Chan's whereabouts. At this moment, he heard the sound of a baby crying in the tilted carriage. He quickly stepped forward and opened the curtain, and finally found Liu Chan in his swagger.

Zhao Yun stepped forward and tore off his clothes and wrapped them up, hung them on his chest, ready to gallop south to find Liu Bei.

Just as Zhao Yun was just standing on the back and preparing to leave, Cao Cao's cavalry had already surrounded him.

Facing dozens of Cao's cavalry wearing silver-white armor and holding spears in hand, Zhao Yun kicked the silver spear standing next to the carriage. After the silver spear jumped into the air, he protected Liu Chan in his arms with his left hand, and rushed towards them with his right hand...

Soon dozens of cavalry were stinged by Zhao Yun. Just when Zhao Yun was a little tired, the situation he was most reluctant to encounter occurred: the former senior brother Zhang He personally led the main force of the Hebei Iron Cavalry to arrive here.

Looking at Zhao Yun's bloody appearance and Liu Chan who was sleeping soundly in his arms, Zhang Heheng stopped the cavalry beside him from trying to come forward to kill Zhao Yun, but planned to give Zhao Yun a way out:

"Zilong, you and I are the same family, and I can't bear to be tragic. If you are willing to stay, the prime minister will be more employed if he loves you. If you refuse, leave Liu Bei's son, and I will not make things difficult for you..."

Thinking of Liu Bei's trust in him and his kindness to meet him, Zhao Yun's firm eyes never wavered. Zhang He seemed to have seen Zhao Yun's determination from his seriousness, so he couldn't help but increase his strength by holding the left hand.

In an instant, Zhang He jumped up from the back of the horse and slashed at Zhao Yun. Zhao Yun retreated and grabbed Zhang He's slash.

The two of them fought back and forth for dozens of rounds. In Zhang He's opinion, it seemed that when he was under Tong Yuan's sect, his master Tong Yuan gave them the question: How to use the wooden stick in his hand to stab the nails on the wooden stake in one go.

As the eldest senior brother, Zhang Ren and Zhang Xiu easily pushed the nails into the wooden stake with the top of the stick.

Only when the youngest Zhao Yun came on stage, he actually stood about a few steps away from the wooden stake and threw his eyes directly towards the wooden stake, and used his rotation to pierce the entire wooden stick deep into the wooden stake.

The nails were firmly nailed to the trunk more than ten steps away from the wooden stake, with burning white smoke...

Now, after being repeatedly forced by Zhang He, Zhao Yun had no way out, he kicked the cavalry behind him off his horse, then caught his spear with his left hand, turned around and threw it towards Zhang He who was approaching him quickly...

Zhang He did not expect that Zhao Yun would suddenly use this move. Without dodging, he forced himself to block Zhao Yun's spear with a strong rotational impact force with the gun in his hand...

When he came to his senses, Zhao Yun had already stepped on his horse's back and whipped away.

Just as the cavalry around him wanted to pursue him, Zhang He called them:
