Chapter 95: A Decision Not to Regret

"People always experience these things, so I have always opposed Kingsley's and their requests to protect and educate you. Some things are just told that cannot be experienced by people. Only when they experience them themselves are their own."

Dumbledore knocked on the table, and a cup of steaming black tea appeared in front of him and Sherlock.

"How do you feel about your change this time?"

Sherlock had never been so relaxed in front of Dumbledore, and he drank the warm black tea in his cup in one sip.

"I feel very good, never so comfortable."

Dumbledore looked at him with a smile.

"I want to hear the detailed story."

Later, Sherlock told them all about their experience this morning, but he concealed the book "Soul Stitch" created by the original mother, but he took the initiative to ask about the mark on his left arm.

He lifted his sleeves and let Dumbledore see the crescent mark on his arm.

"It's this. When I first met Riddle's diary in a bookstore, it had a strong burning sensation. Then I met Neville, who was bewitched by Riddle, so what was this mark?"

Dumbledore was not surprised by what Sherlock said. He saw the crescent mark on Sherlock's arm, his eyes full of memories and nostalgia.

"This is the protection your mother left to you."

"My mother?" Sherlock repeated.

Dumbledore looked solemn.

"Just like the reason why Harry survived Riddle's life-seeking curse was not because he had something special, but because his mother used a protective spell to protect him with her life. You are also a protection left by your mother to you."

"Love is the most powerful magic, and this mark is your mother's love for you."

Sherlock silently looked at the crescent mark on his left arm. He didn't expect that this thing was actually similar to the lightning scar on Harry's body.

"So even now, you still don't want to tell me what happened to my parents back then, right?"

Dumbledore nodded slightly.

"It's not that I don't want Sherlock, but that we don't want to recall those things again and don't want you to know. Of course, if one day you have to know it, someone will tell you."

A brief silence fell into the office, Dumbledore spoke gently.

"You mean, in the end, Neville pulled that sword out of that branch hat?"

Sherlock nodded.

"You originally planned to get Harry out?"

Dumbledore showed a very happy smile on his face.

"No, I just wanted to try it. I think it's possible for anyone among you to pull it out, but what I'm most looking forward to is that you pull it out."

"Me?" Sherlock pointed at himself in surprise, "Why?"

"Do you know the origin of this hat?"

His eyes looked at the branch hat that was back in the principal's room.

Sherlock thought about it for a while.

"I have seen records that this hat turned out to be a Gryffindor hat."

"That's right, so that sword is the same."

Sherlock looked at him in surprise, and the sword that was already placed in the cabinet was now shining.

"This is the sword of Gryffindor once."

Dumbledore said softly.

“Only those who truly possess the Gryffindor qualities can pull it out of the course hat,”

"But I'm a Ravenclaw?" Sherlock asked in confusion.

Dumbledore said with a smile.

"The choice of the college cannot limit a person's quality development. I really hope to see Gryffindor's unique qualities in you. But it's not bad now. I finally decided to recruit you this year, which is the most correct decision I have made in recent years."

Sherlock listened to Dumbledore's words and pondered for a moment.

"Is that rumor that Riddle curses the professor's seat in Defense, is it true?"

Dumbledore did not hide it from him.

"It's true, Riddle did put a curse on this position."

Sherlock stared at him.

"So when I was not considering me at the beginning, I knew he was a liar when I hired Lockhart?"

Dumbledore did not directly answer his question.

"Last summer vacation, he visited a friend of mine. When I met him, I found that some of his memory was missing. After investigation, I found Gidro Lohart, a star wizard who was once famous in the magic world, and found that he was actually a liar who cheated on the world and stole his name. All his experiences were stolen from other people's minds through the forgetting spell."

"At that time, I couldn't recruit the right professors for this year's Black Magic Defense class, so I tried to contact him. Because I think a liar like him, when he came to Hogwarts to be a professor, he would definitely reveal his true colors, and it might be more meaningful for students' education."

"Lohart is not a fool. At first I sent him an invitation, but he did not accept it. Until I borrowed a little bit of Harry's fame and seduced him with the title of Savior's teacher, he finally failed to resist this huge fame and fortune and agreed."

"But later, besides me, others discovered his problem. They also obtained substantial evidence and sued him in the wizard court. This was the only way for me to change my plan for the year and choose you, Sherlock."

Dumbledore blinked.

"I even suspected that you reported Lockhart behind the scenes, in order to drive him out of the position of Professor of Defense."

Sherlock was stunned when he heard his words.

He didn't know if the matter about Lockhart had anything to do with the original owner, but after Dumbledore said this, it seemed a bit possible.

"No matter what happened before, the decision to get Moore Hogwarts did not disappoint me," Dumbledore praised.

"Your probation period ends early, and you will be the first professor of Dark Magic Defense to be re-elected at Hogwarts in these decades."

Sherlock did not over-question the curse of the Black Magic Defense Professor. As Slughorn said, the curse was not very scary. As long as people in the position of Professor in Defense class had no wrong thoughts, they would not be affected by the curse.

He took a deep breath and asked Dumbledore about the most concerning issue he had after solving Riddle's diary.
