Chapter 3 The Guardian

After entering the forest, the mercenaries kept throwing chopped raw meat pieces, gathering large groups of zombies and skeletons in the open open space in the forest.

The immortal monsters fought with each other for the fresh meat they hadn't eaten for a long time, and ignored the group of living people beside them.

Eruson and the other four approached the Black Tower under the leadership of the mercenary leader Baruen, while the rest of the mercenaries followed closely behind.

"What's wrong?"

Everyone was waiting for the two mages to unlock the spells on the gate, but they were staring at the dark gate. Barun thought something was wrong and asked quickly.

"This, there is no spell in this door..." Lantoya replied in a low voice, even she herself couldn't believe it.

"What!?"

This answer surprised the mercenary leader.

He had made various speculations, but he did not expect that there was no spell on the gate of the mage tower.

Has it been abandoned? No, he clearly felt that there was an evil and powerful magic fluctuation in the tower, which was definitely not an illusion?

"Well... it may be because no one has come for too long, or the wizard is too confident in his strength... No matter what, let's go in first, which saves us a lot of trouble."

Eruson lit the door with his staff, and the thick iron door made a "creak" sound and slowly retreated, like a monster with a wide mouth waiting for the food to walk in.

************************************

There was no illuminated torch in the black tower, and only the purple phosphorus fire flashed and became more and more serious.

Occasionally, the howlings of beasts and the whimpering sounds of ghosts from somewhere made the mercenaries who walked up the ladder frightened and comforted each other by exchanging eyes from time to time.

"We have been up for so long, nothing has happened. As far as I can tell, it was someone outside who exaggerated it, and there is nothing to be afraid of."

When the mercenaries arrived at the top of the tower with a large number of books and experimental equipment, a young soldier finally couldn't help but speak; "Maybe the wizard had already died..." Before he finished speaking, he was punched by the leader who had caught up from behind.

"shut up!!"

Baruen was determined to teach these stupid guys a lesson. They didn't even know the terror of the Necromancer. Such carelessness would definitely lead to a very ugly death.

"This is the Undead Mage Tower. If you are not careful, you will die. You will all tighten your skin!!"

"yes!"

Without the order from the leader, the mercenaries had been dispersed automatically. They flipped all the objects that could be loaded everywhere. Only the four-person team from Ai Ku did not take action. They were not only responsible for keeping watch, but also dealing with the necromancers and guardians of some kind who could appear at any time.

“Huh?”

Eruson's eyes were suddenly attracted by the things on the wall, and he looked carefully with his eyes.

Only then did I realize that the sculptures that I thought were lifelike were all specimens made from living bodies.

Not only were people and animals, but also dwarves and orcs. They all kept their pain before their death, and were obviously killed by being imprisoned and then killed. This is enough to show that the owner of the Mage Tower is cruel by nature, and the huge claw marks on the mark itself also attracted the attention of Eruson, which made him recall the warning of bartender Nixon before leaving.

"If you are lucky enough to not meet a wizard, you can leave quickly after taking the bone powder. Zombies and skeletons are not powerful characters. If they are discovered by the guardians in the tower, you will all be dead."

The guardian is the guardian of various mechanisms, forbidden areas, and hidden places.

It is the most suitable first choice for guarding treasures, prisoners or seals.

A common defense used by wizards and mages to protect their mage towers is mostly mainly phantom beasts, orcs, zombies and monsters. Occasionally, there will be higher life forms such as elves, demons and fairies. Most of them are the targets of mages. All those who enter the tower or try to hurt mages must pass them to have the opportunity to see the mage himself.

Because the reproductive ability of higher organisms is too low, in the ancient times when wars are frequent, the best way to form alliances is to intermarriage. However, the survival rate of mixed-race children of different races is only 100%. The higher the mixed-race children, the more difficult it is to survive. As a result, they usually die before they are born, and the mother will die, causing a large number of female deaths.

To this end, the higher race of life created a blood alliance with the holy name of the Creator Father God as an oath and life as a contract.

Once the pledge is established, the two parties share one life. If one of them dies, the other party cannot survive. This covenant in a great sense promotes unity between different races and has also been widely promoted. Almost all higher living organisms will use the Blood Alliance as adults.

However, among many creatures, some races cannot form blood alliances. For example, fairies and monsters, dragons and giants, because they hate each other and are difficult to live in peace, so there is no need to discuss cooperation. Even if an exception is really made, they will be separated due to hatred between races, which will eventually lead to death.

Human beings have invented a new covenant, "Language Alliance" to a large extent, similar to the Blood Alliance, and also use language as a vow. Once a breach of the contract, it will pay life as a price.

Differently, it is closer to contracts like the Lord, slave or friend, so that even humans who have lost a lot of life and magic can still gain new power from the gods and allies in this way.

Because human vitality and magic are limited, the level of the objects of the Language Alliance is generally not high. In contrast, there are more people who form alliances with humans, elves and dwarves because they are closer to humans and have no basic conflict of interest, while demons and dragons are more arrogant and will not make contracts with humans casually.

According to conventional rules, the guardians of the Dead Soul Tower are nothing more than phantom beasts or monsters.

But it has been a long time since I entered the Dead Soul Tower, and the Guardian has not shown up, which is very abnormal.

Moreover, the tower was terriblely quiet, filled with some dangerous aura.

*********************************

"leader!"

A young mercenary shouted, holding a round bottle in his hand. Because the light was dim, it could not tell what material it was made of. But it emitted a silver light in the dark, full of powdery white powder.

"It's it!"

Baruen was secretly happy. He could not have completed the task so quickly. He took out the skin bag that had been prepared and put the bottle in before he let out a long sigh. He was also very concerned about what Nixon said about the guardian. When he was about to signal his subordinates to leave, his quick sixth sense reminded him that something was coming from the dark corridor.

"It's the guardian!!"

Standing at the entrance of the corridor, Diredava, who had the best vision, whispered a warning, and drew out the arrowhead specializing in dealing with thick skin from the arrow bag on his waist, quickly put on the bow, pulled the string, and aimed at the only entrance and exit in the tower.

Baruen made a hidden gesture to his subordinates, and the mercenaries took out their weapons and scattered them, scattering them in the not-wide loft.

If the guards are out of the way, they are ready to give it a fatal damage and then rush out together, which is much better than encountering a necromancer.

For mercenaries, they would rather fight with the guards, and no one would be willing to face the necromancer. That would not be an opponent that can be defeated by force.

Eruson and Lantoya, who had no direct combat ability, hid in a safer rear, silently recited defensive spells, and set up a protective barrier on themselves and others.

Sue held the sword tightly with his hand - the Elf Light, but did not dare to pull it out easily. Its bright moon-like sword blade would illuminate the darkness around him, which would expose everyone's hidden place.

A series of tiny steps came from far to near. Although it was almost inaudible, it could still be heard in the quiet night that tension spread quietly in everyone's heart.

"Here you..."

Eruson held the staff in his hand tightly. This was his first time hostile to the guardian of the Necromancer, and even as a formal priest, he was nervous.

I wonder what it will be, phantom beast, half orc, monster beast, or a higher dark clan - demon?

Only the phosphorus fire was drifting slowly in the quiet attic, and there was no movement.
