Chapter 52 Lies and Truth
The next day, weekend morning.
Harry and Ron staggered out of the dormitory and saw Hermione already sitting in a chair in the lounge.
As soon as the two of them sat next to her, they saw Hermione slap a newspaper on the table with a "slap".
"I know!" the little witch said angrily.
Harry and Ron suddenly woke up, they looked at each other, and Harry asked, "What happened, Hermione?"
"Do you remember the book the professor gave us? Regarding the book about Principal Dippet, there was a "Prophet Daily" pressed on Professor Hepp's desk at that time. I felt something was wrong. This morning I found the newspapers from the last few days... That woman, Rita Skit! She dared to slander Principal Dumbledore..." Hermione was so angry that she shivered.
Harry quickly picked up the newspaper, and Ron sat next to him and poked his head over.
That was yesterday's Daily Prophet. The most eye-catching one was Dumbledore's photo of looking up with white hair. Just from the shooting effect, it looked both aging and sinister, and the front page headline name was "Dumbledore's big mistake."
Harry felt something was wrong, so he quickly read it—
"This newspaper's special correspondent Rita Skitter reported that the school principal of Hogwarts, the weird Albus Dumbledore, has always been a controversial wizard."
"As recognized as the greatest wizard of the present, Dumbledore has been hiding in the castle of Hogwarts since defeating the dark wizard Grindelwald in 1945 and rarely appears in the public eye."
"Everyone praised this, believing that he is protecting the hope of the British magic world and continuously transporting all kinds of magic talents to the magic world, but is the truth really like this?"
"I have recently received letters from some parents of students, saying that there was a horrific attack in the school and that the murderer has not been found yet. Mrs. Ferian of Top Hill wrote: My children are trembling at school every day, fearing that they will be threatened by their lives. The professors are helpless and do nothing! I have to let my children go home for Christmas."
"The author found this parent who cared about her child with anger and interviewed her. The incident was far more serious than expected - it was not the first time the attack, and the attack had already happened more than a month ago. However, the victim was a cat, but the news was strictly blocked!"
"In order to reduce the impact and avoid being discovered and criticized by the outside world, the principal did not hesitate to fabricate a sensational lie - he pushed all this to the Millennium Legend of Hogwarts, Slytherin's Secret Room."
"It's funny that he did something similar as early as fifty years ago. The principal was still a professor of Transformation. During this period, a poor Ravenclaw witch died unfortunately. Hogwarts once caught the suspect, but Dumbledore had a huge influence on Armando Dippet, the then-principal. With his mediation, the matter ended up in vain and the suspect was only expelled from the school."
"Three days before the author wrote this article, two weeks have passed since the second student attack, but the outside world knows nothing about it, and the murderer is still out of order. We have to worry about this matter. Is the omnipotent Dumbledore really old?"
"The author will follow up and report on this matter and give you a truth. In the next issue, we will start with the work of this principal and reveal a more realistic image of Dumbledore for everyone."
The main text ends here, but at the bottom of the page, there is a small line of text, which is the trailer for the next report, and it says:
Dumbledore has always dared to hire controversial teachers, such as Gidrolohart and Felix Hepp this year, but are these two really suitable? Let's wait and see (insiders welcome to reveal the news, contact: Ritaskit, gold medal editor of the Prophet Daily, author of twelve bestsellers, and holder of bestsellers records).
"How could she say that Dumbledore!" Harry said angrily. "There is also the secret room, what we have seen with our own eyes, how could it be a lie!"
"The woman Ritaskit can't believe a word. She often makes up rumors about celebrities." Ron said with insight. "The news about her quarrel with Lockhart in the newspaper a few years ago was very big, and her mother hated her very much."
"It seems that we already know what this woman is." Hermione said mockingly.
Ron picked up the newspaper, "Did you notice that this woman actually wanted to do a series of reports, and the next issue is about Professor Lohart and Professor Hepp. How would she arrange them?"
Hermione said helplessly: "She portrayed Principal Dumbledore as a conspirator, and the two professors are probably not spared."
"I don't care about Lockhart, he's just pretending to be a false air. Do you think Professor Hayp will rush into the Prophet Daily building and give that woman a bat spirit curse?"
"Ron! That's illegal, how could the professor do this!"
The three of them discussed this matter, and the final result was pessimistic.
Harry pointed to a sentence in the newspaper, "She said she caught the suspect fifty years ago, who was she referring to?"
"Come on, Harry, do you still believe that woman's nonsense?"
"Of course I don't believe it, but-" Harry's eyes stared at Hermione.
Her face quickly paled, "Fifty years ago, I was fired...that suspect is Hager?"
Ron licked his lips uneasy.
Harry said quickly, "I believe Dumbledore, Hagrid will not be the murderer! But since he was listed as a suspect, he must know something!"
The three of them were about to go to the Forbidden Forest House in the wind and snow. As soon as they walked out of the castle, they ran into a burly figure. It was Haig. His face was covered in snow and snow, his thick beard was frozen, and he was carrying a dead chicken in his hand.
"Hagge, oh--" Harry hit him directly.
"Beware! Little guys." Hagrid said in a rough voice, waving soft chickens in his hand, and a few chicken feathers were flying in the air with his movements...
In the evening of that day.
Harry, Ron and Hermione just returned from the abandoned underground classroom and everything went well with the compound decoction.
Harry carried the magic scroll given by Professor Happ with him, translating the language of the Snake accent word by word. In the empty abandoned classroom, hoarse and gloomy voices would echo from time to time.
This made the dozing Ron not sleep well. In the middle of his sleep and half awake, he could always see a witch making potions like mud, and a male witch making a "hiss" like a snake.
And earlier in the afternoon, they finally heard a secret room message from Hagrid.
At this moment, they hid in the corner of the lounge.
"All of them are matched!" Hermione said suddenly.
"What?"
"Monster in the secret room! Waiting for me-" Hermione obviously had perfect thoughts, and she hurried back to the dormitory and soon got a piece of parchment.
The three of them gathered together and looked at the text above. It was about a terrifying magical creature called "Snake Monster".
After Harry and Ron finished reading the information, Hermione told them one by one of the clues collected these days, "The snake monster can hibernate for a long time, the snake monster's eyes are deadly, the snake monster is the natural enemy of spiders, and the snake monster is afraid of chicken crowing... What did you think of?"
"So, the monster in the secret room is the snake monster?" Ron asked excitedly.
"You can't be wrong!" Harry punched the table.
There are two main news they got from Hagrid: one is that the chickens he raised always die inexplicably; the other is that he raised the eight-eyed giant spider fifty years ago, and the eight-eyed giant spider was very afraid of the monsters in the secret room and refused to reveal a word.
All can match!
"But the biggest problem is that the basil monster cannot be petrified. I ignored it because of this, but now, the evidence on the side is very sufficient." Hermione said very rigorously, "Maybe I should find time to ask Professor Hayp, what can I do to reduce the damage of the basil monster's gaze..."
She hammered her head with some hatred, "It's really strange. I feel that something is right in front of me, but I can't find it..."
