Chapter 380 Eastward Promise (3)

After listening for a while, the seventh-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia understood the intention of the monk. Although the seventh-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia was not old and was less than 30 years old, the Zhangjia lineage has been closely linked to politics for a long time and has accumulated a lot of political experience. Moreover, the seventh-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia was influenced by his predecessor Zhangjia when he was young. Therefore, he was not only very smart, but also very sharp in politics and very well-versed in the world. Although what these monks said was a fact, they were exaggerating.

Although the East China government has strictly restricted the religious industry, due to the deep folk foundation of Buddhism and Taoism in China, many people are willing to give alms to temples. In addition, the temple's property has been confiscated. After strict review and personnel registration, the East China government also has certain financial subsidies for religious places such as temples. Therefore, although the income of each temple has greatly reduced, the quality of life of ordinary monks has not decreased much. After all, the daily life of ordinary monks is not high. The real impact is the high-level staff of the temple. In addition to the abbot, they also need the first, governor, supervisor, magistrate, guest, and Vinaya. In general large temples, the living standards of these high-level monks are not inferior to those of wealthy businessmen and gentry. Now the income of temples has greatly decreased, so they are naturally the first to be affected.

Before leaving Lanzhou, the VII Zhangjia Living Buddha had carefully and detailed the religious policies of the East China Government. At the same time, someone from the East China Government also explained to him the reasons for the East China Government's formulation of such religious policies and the concept of managing religion.

Although the 7th-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia did not necessarily agree with these reasons and ideas of the East China Government, after understanding these situations, he also understood that the system of the East China Government was indeed fundamentally different from the Qing court. Judging from the attitude towards religion alone, they not only did not believe in any theory of strange powers and chaos, but also did not do anything to do with destiny and were ordered by heaven. In this way, the value of religion to them will naturally be greatly reduced, although the East China Government will not

It is absolutely impossible to completely take the Buddhist and Taoist religions as they did in previous dynasties. The Buddhist and Taoist religions cannot rely on the past way of life. After changing dynasties, as long as they stand on the side of the victor, they can continue to maintain the transcendent identity of the Buddhist and Taoist religions. It can also be said that the experience of the Buddhist and Taoist religions being able to settle down before is obviously not enough under the rule of the East China Government. We must find a new way of survival that can establish a foothold under the rule of the East China Government.

Although there are not many concepts about this new way of survival now, due to his sensitivity to politics, one thing he is very clear, that is, he must stand on the side of the winner. This is the most basic condition for the two religions of Buddhism and Taoism to survive under the rule of the East China Government.

So the seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha said: "The little monk has heard of what you senior brothers said, but the little monk thought that our China is now in a major change that has not been seen in 3,000 years. As the saying goes, the world is vast and powerful. Those who follow it will prosper, and those who go against it will perish. Our Buddhist disciples should also move with the times, follow the heavens and respond to others, and must not go against the heavens and seek self-destruction."

Although other monks do not have the political sensitivity of Zhangjia, they are definitely not monks who can only recite scriptures by chanting scriptures. They also have a deep understanding of human relationships and worldly affairs. After listening to the words of the Seventh-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia, they all understand the words. Now that the East China Government is in power, they are naturally whatever they say. There is naturally only a dead end to oppose the East China Government. Therefore, many monks nodded frequently, but a few people disagree. In fact, Buddhism should also change the major changes that the Seventh-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia has not seen in 3,000 years, and Buddhism should not stick to the past experience. But no one can hear this meaning.

Zen Master Daoyue, the abbot of Xingjiao Temple, said: "Living Buddha, what is the general trend of the world? It is unknown yet. Moreover, the East China government has not yet unified the whole country. It is so arrogant and openly robbing the temple and my Buddhist industry. I don't think it is the destiny of heaven."

The presiding master Jingxiu of Sanyang Temple also said: "Yes! I heard that wherever the East China government went, it was possible to seize land, property and property for no reason. It was not done by those who started the court and achieved great things."

The Seventh-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia frowned. The two monks said something a little too much. Of course, he knew the land policy of the East China Government. Although he did not agree, he had to admit that the East China Government did this reason. "The ploughed people have their own fields." China recognized one of the most ideal social states, but it was impossible for all dynasties to truly achieve this. Even in history, several recognized rule and prosperous times, at most, they could only achieve "most ploughed people have their own fields". The East China Government obviously intends to completely solve the land problem. Although the means are very extreme, if such extreme means are not used, there will be so many fields to all ploughed people! Although the Seventh-generation Living Buddha Zhangjia cannot be sure whether the land policy of the East China Government can be successful, but this is a policy formulated by the East China Government, so right and wrong cannot be easily discussed.

So the seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha said: "Everyone, for nearly a hundred years, our China has been poor and weak, and has been bullied by Western countries, cede land and pay compensation, and lose power and humiliation. Until the return of overseas Chinese, they have won many victory over the Western countries, recovered lost land, promoted the power of China, practiced internal affairs, worked hard to cultivate and develop industries, and were really great people. Although the whole country has not yet been unified, the Qing court has been destroyed. Although there are two kings who are honored, none of them have become great people. Therefore, the East China Government's founding of the country and establishing a dynasty is a trend and cannot be saved by human power. Our Buddhist disciples should not easily cause trouble in the world. As for the money industry, they are even more of things outside the body. The Buddha said, "The four elements are empty, and they said, "There is nothing in it, so why do you make dust?"

Zen Master Zhishan, the abbot of Dacien Temple, said: "Good, good, what the living Buddha said is very true. Since the return of overseas Chinese, we have made many contributions to the country and the people. Although we are monks, we are deeply respected and will definitely accomplish great things. We must never do anything against the trend. We are mere money, but only things outside of our body. We will not bring it to life or take it away in death. Why do we enjoy it or worry about losing it? We will make resentment with money, which is not done by people outside of the world!"

Daoyue and Jingxiu looked at each other, and they both put their hands together, saying, "Living Buddha, the master has seen that our practice is not enough to be attached to the appearance."

The seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha also returned a tribute and said, "No obstacle, no obstacle, everyone chats casually. You don't have to take the two senior brothers seriously. The two senior brothers have superb Buddhist teachings, and the little monk is deeply impressed."

At this time, Zhishan said again: "But the Living Buddha also knows that although monks should not value money and property, they are still ordinary people after all. Three meals a day, food, clothing, housing and transportation do not fall from the sky. There are also temples, food, statues, etc., all rely on these temple products to maintain. The Living Buddha will be valued by the government when he enters east to worship. He only asks the Living Buddha to say a few good words for me, hoping that the Government can open the Internet and leave a little industry for me and other temples so that we can live a life."

The seventh generation of Zhangjia Living Buddha also nodded and said, "The master is too proud. The little monk lives in a remote place. The new monk has just joined the government, not as good as the senior brothers. What is the result of this eastward ritual, it is still unknown. How can the government value the little monk?"

Zhishan smiled and said, "The Living Buddha is so polite. Who doesn't know that the Living Buddha is well-versed in the scriptures and purely practices Buddhism, and is famous all over Qinghai and Tibetan. This time, the government also sent troops to escort the rituals in the east. If it weren't for the Living Buddha's attention, how could it be arranged like this?"

Speaking of this, the seventh-generation living Buddha Zhangjia could no longer be humble, so he had to say, "Only when you arrive in Qingdao, you will know the final result. Now everything is in vain. However, after the young monk arrives in Qingdao, he will meet with plans and act. If the time is right, he will mention the matters entrusted by the senior brothers to the government. However, how the government handles it, it is beyond the ability of the young monk."

Zhishan hurriedly put his hands together and said, "Amitabha, that's enough, thank you for the living Buddha!"

The other monks also bowed and said, "Thank you, Living Buddha."

The monks talked for a while before they left. After everyone left, the seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha also sighed softly, thought about what he said, without any misunderstandings, and then he felt relieved and went back to his meditation room to rest.

In this way, the seventh generation Zhangjia Living Buddha and his party rested in Xi'an for a day and set off again. After one day, the convoy entered Shanxi Province from Shaanxi Province.

At this time, the East China Government ruled Shanxi Province for a year. Not only did the rule stabilize, but the social order and production of villages and towns in various places had been restored. Although it was December and the autumn harvest had all ended, only some of the fields were planted with wheat or other winter crops, the villages and houses along the way were neat, with traffic between fields and chickens and dogs heard about each other. Among them, everyone was happy and full of energy. The market was full of goods, people came and went, and it was very lively, and it was a prosperous scene.
