The first bend, the second bend, the third bend...

It was all the way to the seventh turn, and Zhang Yifei didn't step on the brakes. He just passed by the throttle as he agreed with Cosel!

Although the speed of Renault Racing's full throttle may not be as good as the speed of F1 Racing's accelerator, this does not mean that the difficulty of Renault Racing's full throttle is lower than that of Renault Racing's full throttle.

Because the performance of Renault junior racing is also far less powerful than F1 in all aspects. The same speed can be easily passed by for F1 racing, but for Renault racing in the early stages, this is an extreme challenge.

So Zhang Yifei tried the second lap and faced a completely unfamiliar track. He basically maintained a speed of 260km/h throughout the whole process, which was definitely not an easy task.

For 7 turns, Zhang Yifei only relaxed the accelerator when he passed Turn 5, but did not pass 290km/h according to the F1 standard. Instead, he combined the previous track data and combined the track videos of previous years, and chose to pass Turn 5 at a speed of 230km/h.

Regarding Zhang Yifei's oil reduction and slowing down at Turn 5, Kossell saw the data from the racing speed sensor. Not only did he not choose to question Zhang Yifei, but there was a smile on his face, just like he looked like when he saw Zhang Yifei win the championship before.

Because this curve is very special, if you follow the standard template of f1, the turning speed of turn 5 is 290km/h.

If the style of the previous races was limited by the speed of the car, Zhang Yifei could reach the cornering speed of 290km/h of F1. The slowest one had to follow the limit of Renault racing, 260km/h, right?

After all, this is already 30km/h slower. Theoretically, it can fill in the differences in racing performance between the two sides. As long as Zhang Yifei can achieve a perfect tangent line in the corner, the chance of successfully passing the corner is still very high.

But Zhang Yifei made this choice naturally because he was the reason, that is, the current Silverstone track is still quite different from other F1 Grand Prix tracks.

Because the buffer zones of other tracks are either chosen asphalt of the same material as the track, or they are chosen for conventional sand and gravel, and there are rarely buffer zone materials of the third texture.

This is completely different from the Silverstone Raceway. It was converted from a military airport runway. It invested relatively little in the later stage, so its buffer zone is neither expensive asphalt nor relatively cheap sand and gravel, but grass and mud!

That's right, the buffer zones on both sides of the Silverstone track are very ordinary grass and mud. This buffer material causes the track's shoulders to be easily "dirty", which affects the tire's grip.

Therefore, Silverstone cannot use the road shoulder to turn as unscrupulously as other tracks, which is more of a test of drivers' extreme control over conventional bend cutting.

This is why, Silverstone will become a template for the F1 track, officially because it does not have so many fancy ways to turn corners, and it is often based on its hard power to win!

There is no way to borrow shoulders or even buffers to limit cornering, so the cornering limit of Renault Racing will drop significantly.

F1 can pass at a speed of 290km/h. Even if Renault junior racing passes at a speed of 260km/h, as long as there is a trace of foreign objects on the track, it may cause it to roll out of control.

With the adjustment of the downforce of the air at the lower and middle level, the tires will not get enough grip. So Zhang Yifei entered Bend 5 to collect oil and reduced the speed to 230km/h, instead of just imitating the F1 speed and rushing straight through the corner.

This means that he has definitely thought about Silverstone Circuit seriously and has not memorized the rote data like before.

It is this that made Kossel feel very pleased. It is understandable that junior drivers imitate F1's routing and speed, because this is just a process of their advancement and learning.

However, if you want to become the top driver, you must have your own understanding of the track and create your own style.

Today, Zhang Yifei has shown this goal. He is not just running, but has become able to consider making responses and pass the corners in a way that suits him.

...

After the continuous high-speed bends pass, Zhang Yifei is about to usher in a right-angle deceleration bend called vale bend.

The vale bend is almost a right angle of 90 degrees above the track. Before entering the bend, the car needs to reduce the speed to 2nd gear and 80km/h, and then pass by by cutting the bend.

The main difficulty of this curve is that the previous curves were all high-speed curves, which easily allowed the driver to form a psychological inertia, subconsciously driving the speed to the maximum, and intending to continue to turn at high speed.

As a result, when facing a right-angle vale corner, many drivers use emergency brakes to reduce the speed to turn. Some of them are too fast, in order to avoid rushing out of the track, they even step the brakes to the bottom, causing the racing tires to be locked.

Although it was Zhang Yifei's first time running the Silverstone track, Kossel's previous severe "criticism" made him have a deeper impression of the terrain of the Silverstone track, so he did not make such a mistake.

Instead, I was mentally prepared before entering the vale corner and accurately found the brake point without any errors.

"pretty!"

When Yamamoto Ukyo, who was in the repair station, saw this scene, he applauded directly. You should know that the track data is not only for Zhang Yifei to watch and remember, but also for Yamamoto Ukyo, a data analyst, must also remember it.

He had always been worried about whether Zhang Yifei's radical style would bend over and could not find the brake point in Vale.

Even Yamamoto Ukyo once wanted to use the voice call system to remind Zhang Yifei, but when he saw Cosel, he didn't move, Yamamoto Ukyo did not dare to speak.

Data analysts have no decision-making power in the strategy team, and the competition engineer is the boss of the event team. What's more, Cossel is also Yamamoto Ukyo's mentor, so naturally he has no say.

But what Yamamoto Ukyo didn't know was that before Zhang Yifei entered the vale corner, Kossel had already placed his finger on the red call button, preparing to remind Zhang Yifei of the right-angle deceleration corner in front of him, but Kossel did not press it in the end.

Because today Zhang Yifei has shown a deeper understanding of the track, not just the data on paper. Cosell does not want to interrupt Zhang Yifei's current good competitive state. Instead of reminding many things, it is better to let Zhang Yifei understand them by himself.

After all, after entering the F1 team in the future, these things will still be tested by Zhang Yifei himself. Now he is too involved in solving some difficulties on the track, which may not be a good thing for Zhang Yifei.

After leaving the vale corner, the next step is one of the most difficult corners on the Silverstone track, known as the club corner.

This curve is not complicated, it is just a relatively ordinary high-speed curve. The difficulty lies in the slowing down of the vale curve in front. After leaving the corner, you must accelerate wildly to make up for the lost speed and time on the curve.

Moreover, in terms of the performance of Formula racing, the speed is easily close to 200km/h if you take a throttle. If it were an F1 racing car, it would not be difficult to quickly increase to 300km/h after turning.

According to the F1 standard, the club bend speed is 210km/h in 4 gears. However, this speed is still a little too fast for Renault racing, and the steering is impossible to complete at all. It is likely that you will just throw your tail and rush out.

If Zhang Yifei wants to reach the speed of f1, he must use the shoulder and buffer zone, which can expand the limit of the tangent and maintain the stability of Renault racing.

But the problem is the special buffer texture of the Silverstone track. Zhang Yifei is very worried that there will be dirt or other impurities on the shoulders of the road. Once he encounters some mud and water, the tire's grip will drop astonishingly, and the risk of losing control will increase in geometric multiples.

How about slowing down and passing this corner yourself?

Zhang Yifei thoughts came to his mind. The limit standard for F1 racing is 210km/h. So, he passed by at a speed of 180km/h. Is this a problem?

But this idea is fleeting, because compared to the extreme speed of 290km/h in Turn 5, the speed of 210km/h is not fast. It is a fact that the track buffer zone is easy to slip, but it can pass by the club bend by the shoulder. Are you so afraid?

Of course the answer is no. Zhang Yifei cannot tolerate the fear and cowardice on his track. And Zhang Yifei also thought of Cosell. If he slowed down and chose to be safe, he would definitely be unable to resist asking questions.

But then again, according to previous practice, at this time, Cosel's roaring sound would be heard from the headset, reminding yourself to keep the cornering speed.

But this time, Cosell did not issue any instructions. To be precise, he did not seem to have said anything since he tried to run on the track.

The only thing Zhang Yifei could think of in this situation was Cosell's dissatisfaction with his speed. So Zhang Yifei did not hesitate at all. He directly chose 4 gears 210km/h, rode on the road shoulder fearlessly, and then looked for the apex point to turn.

The speed of 210km/h is amazing. Especially when turning, Zhang Yifei must control the edge of the road shoulder to ensure that there is no "intimate" contact with the mud and water in the buffer zone and grass.

"Teacher, Yifeijun, I still chose to challenge."

Yamamoto Ukyo thought that Zhang Yifei would choose to slow down and pass safely as before. But now it seems that he is still wrong.

When Kossel heard this from Yamamoto Ukyo, he just smiled and said nothing.

Because he knew Zhang Yifei, this kid was radical in his bones, and his oppression was just to release his radicalism.

As long as there is a chance, Zhang Yifei will never stick to the rules, because for a radical driver, the thrill brought by challenging the limit is the charm they pursue when they compete in the track.

Zhang Yifei chose to slow down and turn around before, because if he did not slow down, he would not be able to pass the down pressure of Renault Racing without the help of the shoulders and track buffer zone.
