Chapter 3: War Means (3)
Eber glared at Bjorn even more angrily. His right hand was unconsciously placed on the glove in his left hand, as if he was about to pull it off at any time.
"You seem very angry. Are you going to duel with me again?" Bjorn asked lightly, "I won't hold back twice. Do you want to think about it?"
While saying the words "I won't hold back", a murderous intent suddenly ejaculated in Bjorn's eyes, which made Ebel's whole body cool. After a silence, Ebel sat back on the boat.
"There are sails now, do we still need to paddle?" he asked.
"Of course." Bjorn smiled, "We set out for a long time later. We have to spend a lot of effort to chase Shanghai Stein."
"I understand." Ebert's face sank and said to the other nobles who were still standing on the boat, "Sit down and paddle."
“Mr. Eber???”
"He is right, strength is the difference between us and civilians. When we are away now, we do not represent only ourselves, but the face of the entire Almany Federation."
Eber glanced at the still angry nobles and said:
"In the pirate kingdom, there is no difference between soldiers and pulpmen. We are considered to be a local custom and not ashamed. However, if we are hungry and do not even have the strength to start the war, and are captured and killed by thieves, that is the most embarrassing and losing the most honor."
"But……!!!"
"The pirate kingdom cannot continue to despise our Almani Federation like this." Ebel's eyes caught fire, "They underestimate us, and we must achieve greater results than them, so that they can see who is the real warrior!"
The nobles were silent. Then, they sat down one after another and picked up the oars as Ebert.
"That's right." Bjorn nodded, "Tell you a good thing. This time the enemy we face said that the Duke of Normandy was behind the scenes, but there is no definite evidence. If the evidence finally falls into the hands of Boss Hestein, the Almany Federation will be attacked by the Pirate Kingdom, and you may also become hostages. But if your actions are fast enough - fast enough to catch the leader before Boss Hestein discovers and destroy the evidence, I can guarantee that you will still be the VIPs of the King of Sweden. Because, even the King of Hestein dare not ignore the Swedish King's opinions and forcibly attack the Almany Federation without evidence."
The nobles looked at each other.
"Why do you want to tell us this?" Eber asked, "Aren't you the Pirate King's subordinate?"
"You don't need to know my purpose." Bjorn smiled: "I'll just ask you one question - do it, or don't?"
Hestein set off half a day earlier than Bjorn. If he only uses sails to push the ship, the speed of both sides is the same, and it is impossible to catch up no matter what. The only gap is the oars, which are extremely physically exhausting positions and are easy to make people tired. During ocean voyages, it will generally only be used in a few situations such as poor wind direction, complex terrain, or fighting with the enemy. Therefore, as long as Hestein does not use oars and Bjorn rows desperately, it is possible to make up for the gap in this half day.
Eber's words lit a fire on the chests of the Almani nobles, and every day they paddled with all their might until they were exhausted. They even ran all night long, just to run to the front of Hestein.
However, even though they did not know what happened, they traveled through Zeland, bypassed the Jutland Peninsula, and sailed to Frisia in the Federation of Almani, and did not find Hestein's fleet.
Frisia is a group of islands in the north of the Almani Federation. It was occupied by the "Snake Eye" Sieged as a springboard for invading the Almani Federation. However, therefore, local residents were able to learn the navigation technology of the pirate kingdom. After the "Snake Eye" death, Frisia was recaptured by Duke Otto of the Almani Federation. After Otto's death, Frisia was inherited by three little nobles who had some kinship with him and divided into three parts: East Frisia, West Frisia and North Frisia. These three new lords were dissatisfied with each other, and conflicts occurred on the territorial borders, and inadequate management made thieves rampant here. Hestein's cargo ship was robbed in the North Sea. If there is any place for the Almani Federation to be a stronghold for pirate activities, it is only Frisia.
"According to the news I heard from the port, the Pirate King had arrived here at noon yesterday and had already gone out to sea this morning. We only arrived in Frisia this evening, which was a full day and a half slower than him."
Eber stared at the table with his eyes wide open, and his words were filled with incredible feelings:
"Our ships are obviously the same. We set off for only half a day late. Why did the distance be stretched out for a whole day and a half?"
They are now sitting in a tavern near the port, eating some scorched meat and drinking extremely rough wine. Before that, the nobles of the Almani Federation would have complained. But after a few days of hard sailing, these foods were already rare for them, and they ate with relish.
"It's very simple, because they are more powerful than us." Bjorn squintedly looked at the group of nobles of the Almani Federation, "and you still don't treat me as a companion, and you are wary of me every night and don't sleep well, right?"
"Aren't you the same?" Eber retorted, "Bjorn, you're always on guard against us at night. When we have a little movement, you'll open your eyes!"
"Of course I have to keep a good night's mind if you don't want to sleep well. But don't make any mistakes. For me, even if I fall behind Hestein this time, it doesn't matter. But for you...haha."
Bjorn smiled and shook his head, and drank the wine in his glass in one sip.
Eber slapped the table and stood up: "Bjorn, why do you want to destroy the evidence in front of the Pirate King? How can we believe you if you don't tell me the reason?"
Bjorn did not answer at all, but continued to eat the roasted meat placed on the plate.
Eber took a long breath.
"Well. You are the head, we don't have the right to ask you to explain your purpose." He said, "What do you want us to do?"
"Hestein, the boss, went out to sea one day early, but he might not have found the pirate's nest. We can definitely come first."
Bjorn threw the bones with half the meat onto the table:
"Find some bones, lead the pirates out, and lead them to us."
"You mean... to lure the merchant ship?" Ebel thought for a while. "It is indeed feasible. But do we really have the funds to hire a merchant ship full of cargo?"
