Chapter LVUP (Part 1)

laugh--

The arrow shot by the elf turned into a flash, colliding with the invisible defensive barrier one meter away from the demon, creating a golden spark. After the energy was exhausted, the arrow branch turned into fragmented tiny and tiny, disappearing into the cracks shrouded by the demon aura.

Iris, who looked gentle and elegant, burst out with a light golden light throughout his body, illuminating the dark underground cave. It was not until this time that Link found that there were countless black shadows around him, and his scarlet eyes stared at him hungrily, calling and screaming one after another, just like an evil ghost in hell.

Licking the bright red lips, the demon showed his fangs hidden under the beautiful appearance, and the tempting aura suddenly turned into a murderous intent.

"You are no longer an apostle of Isol, Iris. Do you want to fight me with this body of the elves who have lost their grace?"

"The charge of the God-killing envoy is not something that a demon lord can bear." Iris was unmoved, and the feather decoration on the bow's back turned into a golden firebird, and the light emitted by it dispels the ever-closing shadows.

Just when Link thought there would be a fierce battle to the death, the female demon spread her huge wings and turned into a blazing ball of flames with a "bang".

"It is indeed deeply favored by God. See you next time, the young apostle."

The black shadow dissipated with the demons, and the fresh air rushing in from above blew away the suffocating fishy smell. Even in the transformation state, Link felt that his whole body was soaked in cold sweat.

"What is that?"

Iris's elf bow returned to its original state, and he looked at the direction of the female demon disappearing with a complicated expression: "It is the abyss lord closest to the surface. If it weren't for the sharp decline of the barrier strength of the Earth Pillar, today would never have ended so easily."

Lord-level demon?

When playing games often, Link knew that any monster named lord is not simple. But what surprised him the most was not the Demon Lord, but Eris. The strength he just showed made Link convinced. He was indeed qualified to be a mentor. Even if he lost the Godly Glory and Holy Respect, he had the strength to fight with the Demon Lord. On the other hand, he was frightened just by facing the pressure of the female demon, which was really embarrassing.

But... what does her last sentence mean? It seems to be aimed at me?

"The evil aura has disappeared. Take this opportunity to repair the barrier." Eris asked Link to seize the opportunity, completely forgetting that he had not taught him how to repair it.

"Uh... I can't see the barrier, and I don't know how to fix it?" I asked if I didn't understand. Link didn't feel embarrassed.

"The barrier is everywhere, do you say you can't see it?" Eris put his forehead on his head, pointing to the light column that could still be seen even in the cracks underground, "Tell me what you see. In your eyes, what form is the column."

"A ray of light, yellowish-brown..."

"If you can see it, you prove that you are the real son of nature. You must know that as a high elves, I can only feel the approximate range of the pillar after losing my divine favor." The elves lowered their voices, "This may be related to your cognition. Do you believe in God?"

Link hesitated for a moment and shook his head slowly. In fact, he himself had some doubts. As a materialist, he did not believe in the theory of ghosts and gods from the bottom of his heart. Link clearly divided the boundaries between game and reality. According to the logic of the game, if he did not believe in God, he could not exert the power given by God.

"Listen, I don't care what you were before or what kind of work you were engaged in. Since you were chosen as the Son of Nature, you have to give up everything you had before, including being a human being. You are the messenger chosen by the gods. If you are unwilling to perform your duties, the gods will also take back the blessings you have given you, and you will be expelled from the guardian land by the druids. You seem to not understand the seriousness of the matter. The human body is not enough to bear the natural power known as the highest divine follower. In order to adapt to the transformation of the bloodline's talent, your body will be transformed from the moment you are selected. Once you lose your divine power, you will age quickly and even die in a short period of time."

So serious? Link thought that the punishment in Eris's rhetoric was not right! If something happened to the body in the illusion, the real body would also be affected.

"Humans are the worst physically consummated among all wise humanoid creatures. This not only refers to strength and agility, but also to the sensing of elements. You say that you have no perception, first because you are a trustless person, second because of your inherent cognition. In the environment you were living in, you rarely came into contact with power such as magic and divine grace, so you subconsciously resist and imply that you are a human without power, so naturally you can't feel anything." Eris patiently explained to Link that he could not feel the barrier.

Well~ It makes sense. Link nodded in agreement. Such an explanation is quite consistent with his situation, both reality and the game.

Link admitted that there are unknown mysterious powers in the world, but it is a bit difficult for him to believe in the coming of the gods. As a modern person who has scientific knowledge, he believes that the whole game is just a illusion made by a guy with superpowers. Even though he knows it is fake, how could he take these virtual gods seriously?

"I'll teach you a simple way, close your eyes."

Link did as he said, and the feeling of dark facial features in the depths was maximized.

"Imagine yourself as part of the forest, rooted in the earth."

Well, do you have to use your imagination again?

Under Eris' guidance, Link imagined himself becoming a tree, with fluorescence lit up in the darkness. They gathered together to form a huge network, like the roots of plants, connected into a ball, firmly guarding the pillars of the earth in the center.

"I saw it!" Link shouted excitedly, "The white light is densely connected."

Iris nodded with relief, "Yes, that's the barrier of the Pillars of Earth. Carefully check the area close to the south, what are you finding?"

"Well... it's a big hole." Link could sense that the root-shaped barrier was seriously damaged, which happened to be the area where they were.

"Fix it, connect them back together."

"I can't do it."

"You can do it, this is a task that can only be accomplished by being the guardian of the Pillar of the Earth."

Encouraged by Eris, Link stretched out his hand and tried to reload the light that ordinary people could not see. As if it had life, these glowing lights were automatically connected together when they approached.

One, two, five, and ten, the barrier was repaired little by little, and time was passing little by little. By the time the damaged barrier in the area was repaired, the sky above the crack had turned into a crimson unique to dusk.

“You did a great job.”

Eris, who had been standing by, patted Link on the shoulder with encouragement, and he grabbed his head restrainedly. The lingering sense of accomplishment made Link experience unprecedented satisfaction.

After breaking through the barrier of self-suggestion, Link's five senses have achieved qualitative improvement, not only hearing, smell, and vision. As a clergyman, he realized what "perception" is for the first time.

In addition to the strands of barriers, the entire forest was filled with a layer of light brown light, especially the guardian ancient trees settled by the druids. What is even more strange is that the insects and birds made by animals became large or small voices.

"I didn't catch anything today, and the cubs are going hungry again."

"The rainy season has arrived, why isn't it raining yet?"

"Humans are entering the outer forest again to poach, why don't the druid stop them."

Link covered his ears and looked at Eris in shock.

And the elf had an answer to his doubts.

"Don't expand your perception so much."

Link narrowed his amplified perception and no longer heard the sounds in the distance. But why could he understand the language of animals? The accompanying skills of the Son of Nature? This game is becoming more and more weird...

"All living creatures in the world are born from nature, and there is no language that gods don't know. Since you are the messenger of nature, you can certainly understand the voice of all things. Let's stop here today, it's time for us to leave." Explained in an understatement why we can understand the language of animals, Iris summoned a unicorn to carry Link, who was exhausted from repairing the barrier, back to protect the ancient tree.

Along the way, Link couldn't figure it out. Since this barrier is so powerful that even the Demon Lord can weaken it, why is it still damaged? It's not because of disrepair, right? And why didn't Iris repair it when he didn't step down?

"Repair can only be maintained for the time being." Seeing Link's doubts, Yiri explained that repairing the barrier is a continuous work. "Decades ago, Frost Han designed to kill the demon hunter who guarded the southern border and broke through the rifts that went straight to the abyss, allowing the demons to pass through this passage and enter the surface, almost successfully eroding the pillar of the earth. Several of my relatives also died in that battle. In fact... Hull asked you to come here for a purpose. He wanted you to experience the disaster caused by another lifeweaver, with the purpose of warning you not to forget the responsibilities of the Son of Nature."

I really never forget to remind me, is he so hates me? Link rolled his eyes and told Eris what he found during the repair.

"In addition to the big hole that was just repaired, the barrier to the east is also damaged."

"East..." Eris frowned. The outermost part of the east was the river valley of the human town. The druids stationed there had been missing for half a year. They were worried that it was a trap of the demon. Neither Hull nor him went there in person. The whereabouts of the two groups of druids sent to investigate were unknown. They were worried about how to solve this problem.

Link was overjoyed, River Valley Town, wasn’t that the meeting place agreed with Su Wu?

"Since you are not convenient, let me go."

"Let a candidate who is no different from a cub leaves the guardian land, it is tantamount to letting you commit suicide." Isol did not agree with Link's volunteer.

“Education going out is a way to grow quickly, I don’t object to it.”

Hull, who was always elusive, didn't object to Link's departure. Eris glanced at him in disagreement.

"Of course, this is conditional, as long as you have enough self-protection ability."

One sentence made Link feel discouraged on the spot. What should be considered "enough"?

"At least the minimum standards for elves and elemental creatures."

The minimum standard? Link was stunned and then realized that the so-called minimum refers to the spell position. I remember that Hull once said that the original spell position of elves and elemental creatures is counted in ten.

It’s a scam. I only have four magic positions now. How many levels do I have to upgrade to ten?

"If you know the difference, go back and rest, don't always want to escape." Hell bared his teeth at the tree house where Link lived.

"Get a good rest. If I stay up late to read, I will forbid you from going to the library." Eris's warning made Link slip and almost fall down.

Do you have to be dazed if you don’t read books at night?

Back at the tree house, Link could still hear Hull standing on the ground and talk to Eris in a low voice. But they seemed to deliberately lower their voices. He expanded his perception and only heard tomorrow, the undead, and purified a few words.

Could it be that tomorrow's mission is to go to the northern border to clear the undead? Today's repair barrier cannot be upgraded, so you must have experience in killing monsters.

Link clenched his fists and must kill a few more monsters tomorrow and strive for early LVUP.
