Chapter 524: Grassland (Part 2)
At this time, on the grassland, every tribe has a god who believes in it and a totem that belongs only to its own tribe. Shamanism is the overlord on the grassland at present!
Unfortunately, this shamanism has never been a unified belief. They existed based on their tribes, seemingly occupying the entire grassland, but in fact they are a scattered mob.
With the two armies of Buddhism and Taoism backed by the Song Dynasty and formed a cluster-scale offensive, half of the right to speak in the southern monastery was taken away in almost a blink of an eye. However, the shamanism had a deep foundation and a strong foundation for the people. Even if it was defeated from the beginning, it was easy for Buddhism and Taoism to defeat the shamanism on the "front battlefield", but it was difficult to eliminate the enemy's guerrillas - if you want to completely eliminate it from various tribes, it would be a war that would last for a long time!
In this case, the beliefs of the tribes in the southern part of the desert were a hodgepodge of Buddhist and Taoist shamans, and they accidentally had the same effect as the people of the Central Plains.
Most of the people in the Central Plains believe in Buddhism and Taoism, and a large number of people worship together by gods and Buddhas.
After all, if you are a human being, you will inevitably encounter three disasters, eight difficulties, birth, old age, sickness and death, or have many selfish desires that cannot be satisfied and cannot be conveyed to outsiders. It is extremely difficult to achieve that wish with the power of human beings.
In this way, worshiping God and seeking Buddha is naturally a choice.
As for worshiping Buddha and Bodhisattva, while respecting the mountain god, the land Dragon Prince, it is normal for ordinary people to say that it is common. Many people generally call it "gods and immortals" and do not understand how powerful the Buddha and Taoism fought in the past.
For them, this period of history does not need to be known. They just worshipped all the gods and immortals from all walks of life, climbing up the mountain, raising firewood; entering the temple, chanting sutras.
After all, from the perspective of China's belief history, Zhao and Song are now an era where the struggle between each other is put aside, and the convergence of the three religions (Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism) are combined.
It is not that there will be no major conflict between Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism since then, that is nonsense. This "confluence" cannot conceal their exclusion and struggle with each other at all. It is just that the large climate of "integration" of the three has been formed, and they have already clarified their social positioning.
For example, the complete sinicization of Buddhism. (I have to praise Lin Lingsu as awesome, Guanyin Master and Arhat Venerable, are all names given to the bald people by Lao Lin.)
So many hundred years later, the Chinese people were engaged in the great convergence of Buddhism and Taoism, and worshipped the Jade Emperor and Sakyamuni, which was not rare at all.
Nowadays, aren’t the people of the grassland and the people of the Central Plains the same thing in dealing with faith?
Everyone is a guy all the way, and all the gods worship each other!
Therefore, no matter whether someone is indignant or not, there are already temples and Taoist temples on the grasslands in the south of the desert, and the incense is endless.
Behind these monks and Taoists are supported by the power of the Central Plains Court. When they first entered the grassland, they were in a very transcendent position.
Next, they compete for believers, including Buddhism and Taoism, either to treat medicine, to save suffering, or to play with some "magical" methods, and then to brag about and tell stories. Both families are real experts and the foundation accumulated over thousands of years.
Catching gods and ghosts, subduing demons and eliminating spells, all of them are all set of routines. Where can those uncivilized savages of the Shamanism compare?
So much so that once you enter a certain tribe, you can quickly open up the "market", and as for being able to win over some loyal and trustworthy people, it is inevitable.
For example, in a newly built city called "Jiuyuan" by Zhao Song in the north of Hetao, the Buddhist temples and Taoist temples in the city were so unrest.
There was nothing magical in Jiuyuan City. When the Khitans ruled this land, there was no city here at all.
Even if Zhao Gou treats Jiuyuan as Baotou, he cannot immediately turn it into a prosperous regional economic center. At first glance, people will think that Zhao Song valued more about geographical advantages.
It is close to Yinshan Mountain in the north, the Yellow River in the south, the Gobi Desert in the west, and the Datong in the east.
The unique geographical advantages make Jiuyuan City extremely valuable in geographical terrain against the northern nomadic peoples going south.
By controlling this place and relying on the benefits of the Hetao Plain, a large army can shock the north and south of Yinshan.
Once the grassland changes and war breaks out, the soldiers here can cross Yinshan Mountain in a very short time and enter the hinterland of the southern desert.
In this way, nearly 10,000 soldiers were gathered in Jiuyuan City. So far, there are not many more people (immigrants) inside and outside the city than the military.
Of course, in addition to immigration and garrison, there are many grassland tourists here, because Jiuyuan City is one of the many newly opened trade places by Zhao Song. The trade zone outside the city covers a large area of only a large area compared to Jiuyuan City. Every day, people come and go, in and out, which is very lively.
And almost most of these grassland people who came in and out of the trade zone have fallen under the knees of Buddhism and Taoism.
The reason is very simple. They have the most contact with Han merchants and are most affected!
In addition, those who can "get out of the tribe" are the top leaders of the tribe or the escorts of the top leaders. The former is easier to be enlightened. They have a more flexible mind and know how to "show" to get closer to Zhao Song.
And their entourages have the greatest preferences of their superiors!
A Taoist temple is built in the south of Jiuyuan City.
It is not large in size, and if you count the front yard and back yard, it is just a three-entry house. There are more than a dozen rooms in the wing room, including seven or eight Taoist priests and children. In the Central Plains, this is definitely a small Taoist temple.
The materials used in the courtyard are also very simple, and many doors and windows inside are logged and not painted.
But this is not surprising that Taoists live a hard life.
In fact, not only did they not know how hard they lived, but their lives were more nourishing than those of the garrisons in Jiuyuan City.
Every day on the first and fifteenth day of the lunar month, every day on Christmas and Christmas of the ancestors, there are a lot of good men and women who bring all kinds of incense money to send it.
Among them, the valuable ones are like herds of cattle and sheep or horses on the grassland, and the cheapest ones are felt and sheepskin.
But no matter the price is high or low, everything will be a huge number after multiplying by some pretty huge product!
Not to mention seven or eight Taoist priests and Taoist children, the master of the temple can easily bear it if he expands his "soldiers" ten times.
Who said Jiuyuan City is a trading place?
It doesn't make sense that their incense is not strong.
Many of the grassland people who came to burn incense and worship God were noble people from the tribe. They often came in a constant stream without saying that many of them were really pious.
The reason is that the master of this Taoist temple is a good player who pretends to be a god and a ghost.
When he was just a first-timer, he was ahead of his competitor, the big bald man performed a good show of "spraying incense and candles", which attracted many grassland believers. Even the military and civilians in Jiuyuan City were in awe.
But what's the truth? This is just a trick that makes people foolish.
What are the spontaneous burning of incense candles, the white paper blood marks, the oil pans under his command, the blessings of gods, etc., that is just a routine.
But these tricks of pretending to be a god have made great contributions in the process of spreading the Dharma and spreading the Dharma of Buddhism and Taoism, which also gave Zhao Gouyi an unexpected joy!
