Chapter 240: Three Difficulties

"Mr. Liu, what are you going to do to open this small piece of land?" Xin Li, who was pulled by Liu Mo'ang to the next to this piece of land early in the morning, asked curiously. He knew that Boss Liu had specially opened this small piece of land and was still wandering here all day long, but to be honest, Xin Li disagreed with Mr. Liu's approach.

Obviously, Mr. Liu was preparing to plant other things on this land of about two acres, and it should be of experimental nature, otherwise he would not have fenced the land alone.

Although this idea is good, Xin Li still doesn't agree.

As a top student who graduated from China Agricultural University, although Xin Li is not yet a top expert and academic leader in this industry, as a cadre aid to Tibet, Xin Li believes that he has worked hard on the plateau for several years, especially in the northern Tibet region to study grass industry. He already has a very good understanding of the planting industry in the northern Tibet Plateau.

If it is in a plain, it is understandable that Mr. Liu does this. He even has no problem in opening a piece of land in the yard of his headquarters to grow vegetables. But this is a plateau, or the northern Tibetan Plateau with an altitude of more than 4,500. If you want to grow something here, you can't just plant it with a slap in your head.

The natural conditions of the northern Tibetan Plateau reject the vast majority of plants growing here.

However, this young Mr. Liu is the boss after all, so there is still no big problem with being willful.

"Professor Xin, I plan to try planting the big flowers of Rhodiola and the Snow Lotus in this land. Do you have any opinions to mention?" Standing at the ground, Liu Mo'ang said to Professor Xin Li next to him with a smile.

Xin Li was recommended by Qin Yue on the phone. Xin Li, forty-two years old this year, was once a top student at China Agricultural University and a native of the capital. After graduation, he has been doing research. Four years ago, he even plunged to the plateau and conducted research at the Institute of Grassland, the Grassland Institute of Agricultural Sciences, Nikko.

Moreover, Professor Xin is not screaming, he has the title of a serious professor.

At the level of a 42-year-old full professor, do you think it is amazing? Moreover, such a young and promising professor is active at the front line of grassroots for many years and is really admirable.

Xin Li felt much more comfortable when he heard Liu Mo'ang say this.

"Well, if you plant the big flowers Rhodiola and the black-headed snow lotus, it's not bad here. After all, the climate here is not very different from the black water. If you can find a way to plant the big flowers Rhodiola and the black-headed snow lotus, it will be very helpful for the increase in income of the northern Tibetan herdsmen. However, Mr. Liu, this road is not easy to walk. The natural conditions here are too harsh, and the natural conditions are far less than that of Bayi, Yalong and even Houzang, Sunshine City. Although it is okay to plant the big flowers Rhodiola and the black-headed snow lotus there, it is much more difficult here, so you have to be mentally prepared."

As a pure research expert, Xin Li doesn’t have so many twists and turns. He is a very honest person.

Liu Mo'ang smiled. By talking to Qin Yue, he knew what the expert's personality was. He and Xin Li had not had much contact before, but Qin Yue and Xin Li had contacted each other a lot, and their personal relationships were also good. Otherwise, when Liu Mo'ang wanted to hire an agricultural expert to help here, Qin Yue would not recommend Xin Li.

"Professor Xin, in fact, in addition to the big flower Rhodiola and the Snow Lotus, I also want to try to see if Cordyceps sinensis can be cultivated manually."

"Well? Artificial cultivation of Cordyceps sinensis?" Xin Li's eyes suddenly widened, and then he shook his head firmly and said: "This is impossible! At least with current technology, it is impossible to cultivate Cordyceps sinensis on a large scale. Mr. Liu, the economic benefits of Cordyceps sinensis are indeed far higher than other economic crops, but the mature technology of artificial cultivation of Cordyceps sinensis is still far from that. I advise you not to spend more time on this. It is not worth the loss, really..."

"Haha, I called you here today just to ask you if you have any questions about this? Can you tell me why Cordyceps sinensis cannot be cultivated manually? If you can find a way, it will be of great benefit to the herdsmen on the entire plateau."

The dozen agricultural machinery in the distance began to roar. Xin Li looked up at the other side, then looked down at the small piece of land in front of him, and finally sighed and said, "Mr. Liu, I know your idea is good, but this is really difficult to achieve. At least with current technology, artificial cultivation of Cordyceps sinensis can only stay in the laboratory stage, and large-scale promotion is still far from being too far."

"As for the current technology, artificial cultivation of Cordyceps sinensis is difficult to achieve even in the laboratory. First of all, the current technology cannot fully simulate the temperature, precipitation, sunshine and soil conditions of the northern Tibetan Plateau. In addition, Cordyceps bat moth feeds on Polygonum plants in plateau meadows. There are so many different situations intertwined, and it is difficult to fully simulate the natural conditions here in the laboratory."

As he said that, Xin Li shook his head slightly, "It's not difficult, but it's impossible to do it at all. At least it cannot form a standard for manufacturing the same conditions, so laboratory simulations are actually based on luck..."

Liu Mo'ang nodded thoughtfully.

Xin Li continued: "The second is the problem of insect source. Mr. Liu, you should know that in order to form Cordyceps sinensis, the larvae of Cordyceps sinensis and Cordyceps sinensis are two essential conditions. Therefore, if you want to artificially cultivate Cordyceps sinensis, the host insect source is essential. Cordyceps sinensis is a low-temperature and high-altitude survival species, and can only live in a specific high-altitude environment of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Moreover, Cordyceps sinensis moths have a complete growth cycle under natural conditions. At the same time, its larvae need to molt five to six times in the soil before they can mature and pupate. If the larvae density is high, it is easy to kill and die each other, so the host insect source cannot be artificially cultivated."

"Professor Xin, I know this, but aren't there a lot of Cordyceps and bat moths on the plateau at present? So can we attract naturally growing Cordyceps and bat moths? For example, in this land I have opened, can we use some methods to attract Cordyceps and bat moths from other places to lay eggs?"

"Attract me?" Xin Li touched his chin and smacked me. "I thought about this possibility before, but it is difficult to achieve. Although Cordyceps and bat moths are not easy to grow, there are still a large number on the plateau, especially the northern Tibetan Plateau. After all, not every insect egg laying by Cordyceps and bat moths will be invaded by the spores of Cordyceps and bat moths. However, it is not that simple to attract mature Cordyceps and bat moths. At least you have to have something that can attract Cordyceps and bat moths, such as some kind of smell that can attract Cordyceps and bat moths, or a liquid that Cordyceps and bat moths like... In short, you have to create something that can attract Cordyceps and bat moths first, otherwise everything will be useless. We do not have such technology yet, and I can't help you in this regard."

Xin Li's words made Liu Mo'ang's heart move. The Cordyceps and Bat Moth is also a creature. Since it is a creature, can spring water attract Cordyceps and Bat Moth? The spring water is so attractive to white lions, steamed buns, dumplings, and buns. Can it also attract Cordyceps and Bat Moth?

If Cordyceps sinensis and bat moths are not interested in spring water, can the water hourglass condense a kind of water that can attract Cordyceps sinensis and bat moths?

Well, you can try this.

Xin Li looked at Liu Mo'ang who was thinking, and said with a smile: "Mr. Liu, even if he attracted Cordyceps, bat moth, there is another most important and critical link that needs to be solved. If this link cannot be solved, then even if the above two problems are solved, Cordyceps sinensis cannot be cultivated manually."

"Professor Xin, what are you referring to?"

"Cordyceps sinensis! This is the most critical and difficult problem to solve."

After a pause, Xin Li said with certainty: "The key to artificial cultivation of Cordyceps sinensis is to obtain pure Cordyceps sinensis strains. Cordyceps sinensis is very different from other fungi. This fungus grows slowly and is easy to die. In addition, it is often accompanied by other bacteria, so it is difficult to isolate pure Cordyceps sinensis strains even in the laboratory.

Also, even if pure strains are isolated, it is difficult to enter the sexual stage of cerebral growth in laboratory culture, and can only obtain the nutritional stage product - mycelium. That is to say, under the current technical conditions, even in the laboratory, strains that can sexually reproduce fungal spores cannot be cultivated. Without strains, there will be no spores, and without spores, Cordyceps sinensis will naturally not be formed. Therefore, culturing Cordyceps sinensis is actually a cultivation of Cordyceps sinensis mushrooms! This strain cannot be cultivated, and artificial cultivation of Cordyceps sinensis is the flower in the mirror and the moon in the water."

Now Liu Mo'ang completely understood why Cordyceps sinensis is so valuable and almost caught up with the price of gold, but it still cannot be cultivated manually.

These three main conditions are really indispensable. If there is no one, there will be no way to achieve manual cultivation.

But Liu Mo'ang knew it in his heart.

These three conditions cannot even be achieved in the laboratory, but it does not seem to mean that the Five Elements Jade cannot do it.

The natural environment should not be bothered? We are the real northern Tibetan Plateau, and high-quality Cordyceps sinensis is produced around us. At least we don’t need to consider the environment.

As for attracting Cordyceps and bat moths, wait until Cordyceps and bat moths start laying eggs to see if the spring water can attract Cordyceps and bat moths. Although it is not yet certain, Liu Mo'ang is 80% sure in his heart that the magical spring water can attract Cordyceps and bat moths.

As for the third point that Professor Xin said that is the most impossible, is that a thing? It seems that Cordyceps sinensis mushrooms condensed from the wood hourglass have lived well in this land these days.

Not to mention, the mycelium life force condensed from this wood hourglass is tenacious!

From this perspective, it seems that these three difficulties have been solved unknowingly...
