Chapter 183: Drowsiness Comes, Someone Brings Pillow

If it were 2017 before time travel, then "New Youth" magazine has a history of more than a hundred years.

The significance of this magazine is not how long it has in its founding history, but how it existed in the past.

As Mr. Hu Shi said in his evaluation of "New Youth": it is one of the few newspapers and magazines that once influenced China's historical itinerary.

That's right, although this publication was only published for eleven years, the New Culture Movement failed to complete its historical tasks, which made "New Youth" both famous and criticized in later generations. But it is undeniable that this newspaper and magazine have made immortal contributions in criticizing the patriarchal autocratic society that has been more than two thousand years ago and promoting China's transformation to modern society.

In later generations, there were still many "New Youth" publications preserved in major libraries or museums, but it was said that a complete set of 11 volumes, a total of 63 issues of "New Youth", which seemed to be a very limited number of people that Yang Jing knew. Of course, some collectors still retained a complete set of "New Youth", but since it was not made public, it was enough to prove the preciousness of this publication.

In fact, it doesn’t matter how much this publication is worth. The key is that the historical status of this publication is too important.

To put it no exaggeration, the significance of this set of publications in later generations is definitely far more than those five pages of Song Shu carving!

This is an enlightenment publication for the Chinese New Culture Movement and Thoughts. Do you think it is important?

Chen Duxiu, Li Dazhao, Qu Qiubai, Lu Xun, Hu Shi, Liu Bannong, Qian Xuantong, Zhou Zuoren, Shen Yinmo, Mao Dun, Gao Yihan... Countless famous celebrities who are familiar and even well-known have left their pens in this set of publications. Even Taizuye wrote many articles published in this publication back then!

Do you think this set of publications is powerful? Do you think this set of publications is important?

"SO, this set of "New Youth" must be won!" Yang Jing thought silently.

Although Yang Jing still didn't understand how such a precious publication appeared in such a place? And it appeared in piles, as if the museum or library that originally treasured this set of publications was cleaned up because of moving.

"Hmm? Moving the museum?" Thinking of this, a memory suddenly popped up in Yang Jing's mind.

Yang Jing once read a documentary that is just like a myth, which talks about the phenomenon of precious documentary materials, ancient books, and precious manuscripts that appeared in Panjiayuan in the 1990s for a period of time.

This information comes from Mr. Wang Jinchang, a famous collector in Yanjing. In a memoir, he once wrote about his precious manuscripts and documentary materials in the Panjiayuan fritter market in the 1990s.

According to Mr. Wang, in the 1990s, when Yang Jing traveled through time, many precious famous manuscripts, documents, publications, and ancient books suddenly appeared in the Panjiayuan fresh goods market. Once, Mr. Wang bought a large sack of letters from Panjiayuan. When he loaded the car, the car master was puzzled and said that it would cost to sell for "ragged" to sell, and today the parking fee was ten yuan! When he returned to the unit, the newly replaced doorman saw that he was not dressed properly, and he carried a broken sack in his hand, saying that he would not let him enter the yard. Later, a colleague came out and explained that he was the leader of the unit. The doorman was very surprised and muttered, "Then how could he pick up the rag?"

Actually, no one else understands it. This "dash" contains deep culture and history.

After picking up the "dirty" for more than 20 years, Wang Jinchang became a true "rich man". Now he has the handwriting of political celebrities such as Taizu, Premier Zhou, Chen/yun, Li/Xian/Nian, and countless manuscripts of cultural celebrities such as Lu/Ding/Yi, Zhou/Yang. His collection of "top priority" is the information of modern revolutionary history, with more than 1,000 revolutionary relics, such as a large number of Chinese Soviets, Soviet documents during the period of the Chinese Workers and Peasants' Red Army, early party newspapers, party magazines, letters from the Red Army, military and political letters, etc.

"Many people collect things from the Ming and Qing dynasties because they are valuable and can be sold for hundreds of thousands or millions at auction, but I think it is very meaningful to collect the history of our party." This is what Mr. Wang once said in his own words.

In fact, in the circle of cultural scavengers, Mr. Wang is not a powerful person at the "BOSS" level. The real powerful person is the famous Mr. Zhao Qingwei and Zhao.

In Panjiayuan, Yanjing, and even in China, whenever the name Zhao Qingwei is mentioned, anyone who is engaged in manuscripts, publications, and document collections will raise a thumbs up to praise this legendary figure in the circle of cultural scavengers.

Mr. Zhao’s collection trick is to develop "informers" among major waste stations and cleaners in Yanjing. His most proud album of Dong Qichang was obtained through informants. It is said that a front-line person found that the old books processed by a family were more valuable. Mr. Zhao felt that this was not an ordinary family and told the informants to pay attention to it at all times and that a piece of paper should not be missed. When the family moved, the informant helped him buy all the waste products. When Zhao Qingwei saw the album of Huanghuali wood as the cover of the waste, his eyes were straightened. It turned out to be the original manuscript of Dong Qichang, a great calligrapher and painter in the Ming Dynasty, worth more than one million yuan.

In fact, this is just an interesting story in Mr. Zhao's cultural scavenger hunting career. Mr. Zhao has been engaged in cultural scavenger hunting for nearly 30 years. Through this industry alone, he has collected tens of millions of pages of various precious manuscripts, including manuscripts by famous scholars such as Lu Xun and Mao Dun.

In the circle of cultural scavengers, Mr. Zhao is the top powerhouse.

The reason for the sudden appearance of a large number of precious manuscripts in this era is surprisingly simple, which makes people feel incredible, helpless and even sad.

It turned out that in the 1990s, a large number of precious manuscripts suddenly appeared in the Yanjing antique market such as Panjiayuan Fresh Goods Market, Liulichang and Baoguo Temple. The reason for the documentary materials was that during this period, a large amount of information was abandoned when major archives, museums, libraries and major institutions in Yanjing moved. All of these abandoned materials were entered into the scrap purchase station, and then bought them by dealers and brought to these antique markets for sale.

The preface to Ba Jin's "The Truth Collection" and the manuscripts such as Qian Zhongshu's "Guan Zhuan" were leaked out of Zhonghua Book Company like waste products.

In 2003, the magazine "Literary and Art Research" cleared 33 boxes of things and refused to be unboxed and inspected, and the price was 33,000 yuan. At that time, Mr. Zhao Qingwei decisively bought it for 30,000 yuan. After unboxing, he was surprised to find that there were famous manuscripts from the boxes, and the yellowed papers were handwritings of everyone such as Li Keran, Shi Lu, Fan Zeng, Wu Guanzhong, Bing Xin, Li Keran, Wang Meng, Xia Yan, Huang Yongyu, etc....

Also, in the 1990s, when the library in Yanjing began to conduct computer searches, a large number of them were thrown away. A young librarian actually threw out the entire set of "New Youth" founded in the May Fourth period, and retained the current "Youth Digest"...

"Could this set of "New Youth" be a good thing done by the young librarian?" Yang Jing thought to himself. He knew that the complete set of "New Youth" was eventually bought by Mr. Wang Jinchang at the price of buying scraps. If this set was the set collected by Mr. Wang Jinchang, wouldn't he have cut off the collection of this collector?

"Go to his sister! No matter who he belongs to, my buddy has seen this set of "New Youth", so he is my buddy!"

Yang Jing felt no guilt at this time about whether Mr. Hu was intercepted. In this era, there were countless precious manuscripts and documents that had been leaked from major institutions, archives, museums, and libraries.

An old stall owner who had been operating in Panjiayuan for many years once said that just the precious manuscripts sold by his hands, there were as many as several trucks of documents!

What is this thing in front of you?

Thinking of this, Yang Jing asked the stall owner calmly: "Boss, how do you sell these magazines?"

When the stall owner saw that Yang Jing was concerned about the "scrap products", he felt a little reluctant.

If you don’t read so many old books here, you have to read those "rags". What do you think?

Perhaps it is precisely because of this reluctance that the boss's tone of speaking became much less indifferent.

"These things are not only sold, but they are bought for one dollar. If you want them, they cost two dollars per pound!"

Yang Jing was stunned when he heard this!

Those precious manuscripts and literature were bought by later generations at the price of buying scraps. A precious manuscript worth over one million in later generations was sold by pounds in this era! At the beginning, Yang Jing heard such legends as jokes.

He really doesn't believe how such precious manuscripts and literature were sold by buying rags!

But the stall owner's words made Yang Jing completely believe that those things were not jokes, but real things!

Seeing that Yang Jing didn't say anything, the stall owner felt a little guilty. He bought these things from the scrap station at a price of 30 cents per pound, and it was a big profit in his mind.

"Does this master think it's expensive?" The boss muttered in his heart, and was about to take the initiative to reduce the price, he heard the young man say while flipping the "rags": "Okay! Two yuan per pound is two yuan per pound. How many do you have here? I'll cover it all!"

When Yang Jing said this, he forced himself to keep from getting excited.

I was just watching the set of "New Youth", but he didn't watch the following things, but now he flipped through the following things, guess what it is?

Yang Jing's eyes were almost straight!

"This is part of the manuscripts of Master Lu Xun's "The Morning Flowers and the Sunset Collection" and "Huagai Collection". Hum? There is another one? Damn, this is part of the manuscripts of Master's "Call to Arms"!"

"God, what is this? This is the manuscript of Master Mao Dun's "Praise of Poplar", "Rayon", and "The Earth, Mountains and Rivers"!"

"Ah? This is Kang Youwei's manuscript of "The Book of Datong"?"

"Oh, this is the manuscript of "Praise of the Sun" by Master Guo Moruo, the manuscript of "Phoenix Nirvana", the manuscript of "Green Grass in the Suburbs", and......"

"Ah! This is..."

......

Although Yang Jing was silent at this time, there seemed to be a super typhoon of level 18 in his heart!

If it weren't for seeing it with your own eyes, Yang Jing really thought he was living in a dream.

These manuscripts were written by the masters. If they were placed in later generations, they would be something that would be stolen! But here, they were actually about "stacks"! And the price was actually about "pounds"...

Is there any truth in this girl? Can my luck be better?

These precious manuscripts that were preserved were constantly presented in Yang Jing's eyes. The more Yang Jing looked at them, the more he felt nervous.

How sad this is! Just because some people are in vain and do not understand the preciousness of these precious manuscripts and documents, they are sold as rags!

Fortunately, these precious things were eventually bought by domestic collectors, and the water did not flow abroad. But isn’t this a very sad thing?

These piles of manuscripts and documentary materials are definitely genuine. Even if Yang Jing does not use the identification skills, he can clearly feel the surging humanistic treasure that comes from these manuscripts and documentary materials!

These are the cultural heritage left by the ancestors of China! But they are regarded as rags by some people and this stall owner...

If Yang Jing didn't buy these things, he wouldn't forgive him.

"Buy it! Buy it all! Even if you spend all your money today, you have to buy it!"

Yang Jing gritted his teeth and looked up and said with great affirmation to the boss: "Boss, all these things are not lost!"

When the boss heard this, his face immediately burst into laughter!

He collected these things from the scrap station yesterday afternoon, and they were more than 200 kilograms. If he could sell them at two yuan per kilogram, he would make more than 300 yuan just by these junk!

The street stall owner was very motivated by being able to make money. According to Yang Jing's request, he quickly wrapped piles of "rags" in kraft paper, and then tied them with ropes to weigh them. After more than 20 minutes, all the "rags" of more than 200 kilograms became Yang Jing's.

"Sir, how do you transport these things away? Why don't I help you transport them? I have three wheels here and I can take them away in one car."

Hearing the boss's thoughtful words, Yang Jing was very satisfied and said with a smile: "Okay, please help me transport them away. I will give you twenty yuan fare."

"But it won't be far away. I can't give it to you if it's too far."

"Don't worry, it's in the duty room at the door."

"Oh, you said Lao Qian is there, that's fine." The boss started to move the wrapped "rags" to the tricycle in a daze, and moved them all up in a few minutes. The boss said to a street stall owner next to him: "Liuzi, help me support me, I'll go and send some things to the customer and come back."

"Okay, don't worry!" The boss of the stall next to him was quite enthusiastic.

The boss was riding a tricycle, and Yang Jing followed him, but it wasn't far from here to the door anyway.

The boss asked, "Sir, why are you transporting your stuff to Lao Qian? Oh, Lao Qian is just watching the door, we are all familiar with each other."

Yang Jing told the boss about the fact that he had no place to put things in and asked Lao Qian to help take care of him. At the same time, he also told him that he wanted to rent a house around him. As a result, the boss was happy when he heard the wine.

"Oh, you've told me about this! My house is located in Warwick Sili, west of the west, and there is a room in my house empty. If you want to rent it, I can give you some cheaper."

After hearing this, Yang Jing was also happy. It was so sleepy that someone gave him a pillow.

"Okay, if you really have a room at home, I can rent it. But I can only rent it for one day, and I will leave at night. I rent this house just to serve things."

"I understand this. When you say you want to rent a house, I understand what's going on. Don't worry, if you rent my house, I will guarantee that the things you bought are safe. My house has just been laid off and it's okay to be at home all day. With that woman watching you, you must not worry about safety."
