Chapter 726 Not a career, just a business

But Jester doesn't want to keep going like this.

After all, this tyrant who has been in charge of Disney since 1984 will continue to be in charge of Disney for 11 years.

Disney is now becoming more and more influential in Hollywood, and under the leadership of Michael Esner, he is slowly reaching their peak. Moreover, for Jester, he bought Pixar not because he wanted to hold it for a long time. His plan was similar to that of Jobs, and he also wanted to wait for Pixar to sell it to Disney when the price of Pixar is similar.

However, this period may have been a long time, so Jester himself doesn't care much, so he can wait.

After all, with the release of "Toy Story" next year, Pixar will soon develop from an unknown small company to a company with 24 Academy Awards, 7 Golden Globes, 3 Grammys and many other awards in just over a decade. The total box office of the films produced has reached 6.3 billion US dollars, and the animation rendering technology APIrenderman developed by them has become the industry standard.

Such a film company will also make extremely profitable in the future.

Jester wasn't worried about whether Disney would buy it, because if everything went according to the original history, Disney acquired Pixar, that was a must.

This is not an ambiguous multiple-choice question, but an inevitable question and answer.

Rather than saying that Jobs sold Pixar to Disney at that time, it would be better to say that Disney had to buy it, and it would be more accurate to buy it at all costs.

In fact, the reason is very simple. Just analyze the relationship between Pixar and Disney.

Before the acquisition in 2006, Disney and Pixar had been in partnership for more than ten years. They were based on investment and profits were divided by 55% between 50% and 50% between 2006. Pixar was responsible for the production and Disney was responsible for the distribution. Because at the beginning of the cooperation, Disney's status was stronger, the details of the cooperation method were more beneficial to Disney. For example, Pixar still had to pay the issuance fee to Disney. Disney owned the copyright and sequel rights of the story, which led to Pixar being restricted by Disney's decision in many aspects, which laid the groundwork for the subsequent conflict.

When this partnership was about to end, Disney's animation creation was already very weak. On the contrary, Pixar became the most profitable company in Hollywood, with mutually vocal power. When new cooperation negotiations were restarted, Jobs and Disney's eO Michael Esner had a fierce conflict.

Pixar hopes to establish a simple issuance agency relationship with Disney, so that investment and profits will be independently borne by Pixar. In other words, Pixar has a hard wing and needs greater control. If Disney does not agree, Pixar will choose other issuing companies.

A lot of things happened during this period. Mike Esner left the Disney EO position that occupied 21 years ago, and replaced it with Robert Eagle Igor, and repeatedly stated that the production of cartoons is still the core business of Disney, so he was determined to improve his relationship with Pixar and Jobs, which led to the shocking acquisition later.

From a Disney perspective, it needs Pixar to beat Pixar to Disney.

Because the leaders of Hollywood animation are Pixar and DreamWorks, Disney has long lost its glory and it urgently needs content. This desire is so strong that Disney feels that if it cannot reach a new cooperation method that is more favorable than the old agreement with Pixar, why not just acquire it? So Disney finally gave a $7.4 billion share exchange condition.

The offer of $7.4 billion is a price that Jobs would not refuse. And the same is true for Jester. His goal is this $7.4 billion Disney stake, which is enough to make him a giant that can influence the entire American media industry.

Judging from the logic of the growth and growth of Hollywood companies, Pixar also needs Disney to a certain extent. Since the 1980s, Hollywood has formed a super stable structure monopolized by six major multinational media groups, which is almost unshakable.

These large groups not only vertically monopolize all aspects of film production (their monopoly has exceeded the period of the big studios before the 1950s), but also span all other media departments. No matter how ambitious independent production companies, such as O-Rich Onpitures in the 1980s, DreamWorks in the 1990s, Miramax, or the new line that rose by "Lord of the Rings", they can only take turns to be prosperous for three or five years. All of these companies want to become comprehensive entertainment groups, but they can't do it.

It wouldn't be possible for Pixar to do it.

Jester is clear about this, so the only thing he can do is to make himself a part of these giants.

When Sony made a large-scale acquisition, Jester was also very jealous, but at that time, neither status nor money, he was enough to make such an acquisition.

As a single production company, Pixar's excellentness has approached its limit. To further develop, it must be integrated in vertical and horizontal directions and other links, and this cannot be automatically grown from the existing Pixar. Then incorporating it into a certain group company is the best shortcut. Therefore, Disney's acquisition of Pixar is actually a natural thing, and under normal circumstances, it should be a win-win situation.

The same is true for Jester. He bought Pixar not because he had any special thoughts about Pixar, it was just that Pixar would make enough money in the future.

Now, if you have an investment of less than 40 million, you will be able to receive a return of at least 70 to 8 billion US dollars in the future. If you don’t do such a thing, you will be really stupid. This is just a business, not a business he wants to do.

While thinking about Pixar animation, Jester shook his head, then stood up and stretched his arms, stretched out his arms slightly, and was a little tired. He looked at him from a distance. Claudia and Li Fu in bikini were really on the beach. Because they were a little far away, Jester couldn't see clearly.
