Etiquette means being unreliable in these two aspects and being respectful in attitude.
Mencius believed that people were good in nature, so some words were the same as Confucius. They thought they were bad and implicitly hidden them. Therefore, this passage was very implicit and gentle. However, some problems were still unavoidable. After reading the entire "Mencius" paragraphs, you will know that some words were too intense.
Of course, it was nothing to say, so Zheng Lang said the following sentence: "A gentleman is benevolent and righteous, and then he will become benevolent, and then he will practice righteousness and rituals. Then he will be righteous. The rituals are made against the original and the end, and then rituals. All three are in line with each other, and then the Tao is the way."
Only when a gentleman uses righteous means to deal with benevolence is truly benevolence. Using etiquette to practice righteousness is the true righteousness. When formulating etiquette, it becomes the end, and etiquette will be available. All three are understood, so that it can be said. However, there are also controversies. Some people think that etiquette is more heavier than benevolence and righteousness. For example, in the first paragraph used by Zheng Lang, Han Ying subconsciously regarded this method, which is actually ritual, and is superior to benevolence and righteousness. However, there is still a distinction that depends on what the situation is. For example, when Mencius was answering with Chunyu Kun, Chunyu Kun said that men and women were not close to each other, and etiquette was not close to each other. Mencius said yes. Chunyu asked again, then can his sister-in-law fall into the water, can she pull her? Mencius replied that if there is no support at this time, it is a jackal, and men and women were not close to each other, etiquette, and sister-in-law drowns, and those who give her hands are power.
Zheng Lang agrees with this view very much. The times are different, the severity is different. Benevolence, righteousness and etiquette are different. Benevolence and etiquette are different. When helping his wife, benevolence is righteousness. Because power, severity is more severity, and ritual is less, we can reach out to rescue him. Poor Hai Rui, "Mencius" became a sub-saint in the Ming Dynasty, and even forced his daughter to death. Haven't you seen this passage?
Chunyu asked again, "Why is the Master's helper today? Mencius replied, "If the world drowns, help him with the way. If my sister-in-law drowns, help him with his hands, do you help him with your hands? On the surface, it means that the world falls into the water, why don't you go to save me?" Mencius replied, "If the world falls into the water, you can only use the way. My sister-in-law falls into the water, just stretch out her hand. Do you want to stretch out your hand to save the world?"
In fact, the so-called Tao contains all the true meanings of Confucianism, such as benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom and trustworthiness, so benevolence, righteousness and propriety must serve it. However, you must think together, otherwise it may make people have a strange meaning.
These three passages were nothing, and no one seemed to pay attention to them. Even if they were connected, no one would pay attention to them. But when Zheng Lang talked about benevolence and righteousness before, Feng Yuan's face was a little ugly.
