The Prelude to the Battle of Turkestan

Turkestan was originally in Persian, and its original meaning was the place where the Turks lived. It was originally called out by the Arabs in the eighth century. Turkestan broadly includes the vast Central Asian region, including the Tianshan Mountains in the east, the Karakoram Mountains on the west, the Caspian Sea on the west, the Afghanistan in the south, the eastern part of Iran, and the Western Siberia in the north.

In a narrow sense, it is the capital of the Kazakh Khanate, Turkestan City.

This ancient city originated from the Turks' migration westward. It was the Tang Dynasty in China. Its technology, culture, and commodities from the East were continuously absorbed from the Western Regions Protectorate, and then transferred to the West. Since then, Turkestan has been the richest city in Central Asia, gathering a prosperous place with two cultural styles in the East and the West.

Today's Turkestan is no longer comparable to a thousand years ago. Although the wheel of the times is moving forward, due to the limitations of the geographical environment, the Kazakh Khanate did not make significant progress in productivity, at most it was the limited promotion of iron tools. As a trading city, the Ottomans are now to the west, the Oros are to the north, the Mughal Empire is to the south, and the Tianshan Mountains are recently recovered by the Ming Dynasty. No matter how you look at it, there is no atmosphere of commercial existence.

In this way, the prosperous trading city was naturally defeated, but as the holy city of the Turks, the city still had an inestimable influence.

If Turkestan was recovered by the Oros and the Kazakhs, it means that the Ming Dynasty's conquest of Kazakhstan was completely failed, and the Kazakh Khanate and Dayuz were restored again.

All the generals in the northwest face the stain of life: defeat and lost ground.

Yes, no one would care that this land was also newly built. They would only whistle easily and said: Look, Xiao Mo Xiao Donglou is known as a famous general of the empire, but what was the result? They lost Turkestan.

Yang Wei stood on the Turkestan city tower, which was a tower with a Thai style. It was not as beautiful as the Ming city tower, and it left an arrow hole to make people feel depressed.

From here you can see the river flowing from the northwest of the city. The General Staff of the Ming Army adheres to the habit of confidentiality and arrogance and named it Xiliang River. The widest part of this river is only five meters, and the narrowest part is only one meters, so you can wading and crossing. You can only increase your defense capabilities in a limited manner.

As the birthplace of the Xiliang River, it is a mountain range named Cuiping Mountain by the Ming army. The locals called it "Kalatao" Mountain. It is located in the northwest of the city and is a mountain range that runs southeast. Because the mountains are too far from the city, they only have strategic significance and have no tactical influence.

Similar to this is the Sir River, which winds southwest of the city. The entire Turkestan city is on the right bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Sir River, and is thousands of miles away from the main battlefield of the Battle of Sir River where Sengge and Turubaihu were defeated. Because it is too far away from the city, the Sir River does not help the defense of the Ming army, but the agricultural reclamation area along the river can become the food supply area for the Ming army.

Xiao Mo knew where to find Yang Wei. When he stood behind Yang Wei in his cloak, he couldn't help asking, "What are you looking at?"

"We made a strategic mistake, but fortunately the enemy made even bigger mistakes." Yang Wei turned around and said, "General, we shouldn't come to save Turkestan now."

"The Western Regions are too vast, and the number of soldiers is really insufficient. Even the Oirats have to cherish them." Xiao Mo said.

Although the Oirats did not speak Chinese, they were at least closer to the Han people than the Chagatai and Kazakhs. For the Ming soldiers who had just sprouted the concept of ethnicity, those with deep eyes and yellow hair were definitely foreigners who could not communicate with each other. Instead, the Oirats could barely be considered compatriots.

"Let Turubaihu and Sengge completely retreat, and we will attack the Oros, Kazakhs and Cossacks here again. One has a greater tactically initiative. Moreover, there is no need to give this place to the Oirats." Yang Wei could see the farmland in the Xiliang River Basin in the distance through the arrow hole, exuding an attractive atmosphere.

"The arable land in the Xiliang River Basin is enough to bear hundreds of thousands of people. If it is managed patiently, it will be an important town for China to completely rule the Western Regions." Yang Wei said: "In this way, the Ming Dynasty can radiate from here to the Far West without worrying about losing its foundation."

Xiao Mo admitted that this idea was even more attractive, but...

"Western of the Western Regions, our strength is still too weak." Xiao Mo said helplessly.

"It may be better if you slow down. The Korean army and the tank division may be dispatched." Yang Wei said: "And our country does not need to continue to retain the strength of the three armies in the South China Sea. It is enough to deter the Australian garrison alone."

"Is that right?" Xiao Mo raised his eyebrows: "I heard the news that before Longjing fifteen years, the northwest will no longer increase its combat power on a large scale."

Yang Wei was a little surprised: "Is it reliable?" His advice to His Majesty the Emperor was not like this, and he felt that His Majesty the Emperor was almost obedient to him, which made him feel more and more accomplished in his work.

Based on the current geopolitical research results, the key to whether the Ming Dynasty can become a thousand-year empire to establish world hegemony lies in the vast territory control west of the Western Regions. Once the Ming Dynasty has obtained this frontier position, there will be no country that can challenge the Ming Dynasty in the next thousand years.

Xiao Mo said firmly: "Reliable."

This is a hint given by You Du, and there will definitely be no mistakes, but you can't tell others. It is precisely because of this news that Xiao Mo cherishes the combat power of the Oirats even more and does not want to see meaningless losses.

In terms of the earliest strategic arrangement of the Northern Expedition, the Western Regions prepared to increase the scale of 500,000 troops. However, the plan could not keep up with the changes. At that time, the Ming Dynasty had not yet begun a war with Spain, and he never thought about intervening in the Americas. Now, the Ming Dynasty saw that the Americas had a rare opportunity, and if it had to divide its combat power, the direction of the Western Regions had to stop.

Although the separation seems to be only a scale of 100,000 people, considering the supply lines on both sides, the civilians and material resources needed to be used, the expansion of the Western Regions can only slow down.

After all, it was the Chinese officials in the court who believed that America could bring back more wealth to the Ming Dynasty, and the far west part of the Western Regions was just a new land of exile.

This is also the reason why new geopolitical theories have not yet become mainstream knowledge.

"In this way, this battle will be the last battle before Longjing's fifteenth year." Yang Wei said: "If the arm of the Oros people cannot be cut off, it will be even more difficult to conquer the entire Kazakh Khanate in the future."

Nowadays, Oros has ended the war with Sweden, and it still continues its war against Poland, hoping to save the annexed Ukraine. This makes it difficult for the Tsar to mobilize a large army on the southern front, but due to the lack of intelligence, neither Xiao Mo nor Yang Wei could guarantee whether Oros would go crazy and sent troops to fight for Kazakhstan at all costs.

After all, they have already taken the Kazakh Xiaoyuzi tribe into their pockets and are coveting Dayuzi and Zhongyuzi. Just like wild wolves who are eating, they will never tolerate others interfering.

"This battle is really a random fight. We don't even know who their generals are." Xiao Mo sighed in a low voice after a brief recession.

"From the news obtained from the Oirat side, the enemy consists of three parts, among which the Cossacks have the strongest combat effectiveness, followed by the Oros musket army. The Kazakhs can only fight with the wind." Yang Wei said: "As long as the Oros musket army can be restrained and the superior forces can be concentrated to strike the Cossack cavalry, the Kazakhs are not worth worrying."

"This time, our number of soldiers is twice that of the enemy. If we cannot defeat more beautifully, we really cannot explain to the emperor." Xiao Mo said the pressure in his heart.

From the first-hand information collected by the Northwest Army in the pre-war period, the General Staff has analyzed the basic tactics of the Oros. In terms of equipment, they were half an era behind the Ming army. The firearm equipment rate was much lower than that of the Ming army, and there was no standard equipment. The army was equipped with axes to flintlock guns, and because Oros lacked iron, many muskets and cannons were made of bronze, and the number was far inferior to that of the Ming army.

As for the Cossack cavalry, they are still in the era of cold weapons. In addition to the fact that the horses are better than the Ming army, they are completely behind this era.

The Ming army has already gained an advantage in terms of combat effectiveness and number of soldiers, and it is a foregone conclusion to win.

The key is to win beauty.

Turubaihu and Sengge were beaten to death by this enemy army, and Turubaihu even became ill. If the Ming army could solve this group of troops with ease, it would naturally form psychological suppression on the Oirats, making them more respectful to the Ming Dynasty.

On the other hand, today there is a habit of "fighting horses and whipping", and prefers to concentrate the advantages a little more to create greater advantages. Therefore, in previous military expansions, in addition to the needs of the war zone, the more important thing is whether the generals can perform well. As long as they play well in this battle, the court may turn their attention back to the Far West region and unleash some of their strength from the American strategy.

In March of the tenth year of Longjing, Turkestan was still a time when water was dripping into ice. The Oros army in gray, red, and green uniforms appeared outside the city of Turkestan. They had "defeated" the Oirat and Ming army that appeared in front and seized three cannons, which inspired them. They changed their previous habit of being led by Cossacks and hoped to enter the city of Turkestan first.

Legend has it that the city is full of food, gold and silver, as well as a century-old treasure of the Kazakh Khanate.

Just as the musket army of Oros stepped across the Xiliang River in the dry season, the Ming army artillery on the other side of the river roared.

This is not the three or five cannons they encountered before, but the continuous bombardment of dozens of cannons. Whenever the Oros think that the cannons have stopped and are ready to line up, the cannons can always set off the horn of battle again.
