Chapter 32 The Lost Dragon

Another world.

At the other end of the space-time channel, on a small hill several kilometers away from Sigma Volcano.

An elf stood at the top of the cliff on the top of the mountain, staring at the distance with a telescope, still emitting thick smoke, like a lava hell, silent.

The elf wore a black protective suit, with heavy insulation fabric covered with traces of volcanic ash. He wore a precision helmet-style gas mask on his head, which had magical glowing light that could filter out most of the dust and toxins.

Behind him, there were more than a dozen fully armed soldiers and three specially modified magic armored vehicles patrolling back and forth. These soldiers were seriously alert, observing the situation around, and protecting the safety of the elf standing on the stone cliff.

Soon, with the roar of the magic engine, another armored vehicle arrived halfway up the mountain with rolling smoke and dust. A silver-haired and purple-eyed elf got out of the car. He escorted down to the top of the mountain by several tall soldiers.

It seems that because of several heavy rains, the ash around Sigma Volcano had settled a lot, and the air quality was still treasured, so the silver-haired elves and other soldiers did not wear gas masks. After they had contacted the patrol soldiers, a soldier who seemed to be the chief guard walked up to the cliff with the silver-haired elves and came behind the elves who were observing the volcano, bowed respectfully, and said, "The commander, Director Luola of the Technical Department is here."

"Thanks a lot."

The gas mask moved slightly, but there was no expression. It seemed that he had noticed this. The elf, known as the commander, took off the mask on his head and revealed his face behind him.

This is a middle-aged elf with red hair. He looks very tired, and the wrinkles at the corners of his eyes are very obvious. Compared to the elves' appearance above the national standards, the commander can only be called ugly, but he has an inexplicable aura that makes people involuntarily want to believe this person. Facing Lola, who seems a little nervous and restrained, he smiled and patted the other person on the shoulder: "Don't be nervous, Lola, I know you, you are the youngest director of the research institute in the technical department, the winner of last year's Golden Feather Award, and the youngest expert in alien beast science."

"You came here because you have the ability, so there is no need to be nervous."

“…Thank you, Commander.”

Hearing these words, Rora seemed to calm down a little. After taking a deep breath, he also bowed deeply to the middle-aged elf in front of him.

The existence in front of us is the supreme leader in holding military and political power in the Gulf Federation, and it is also a great figure who has opened a new era, leading the federal army to completely defeat the last elves dynasty and liberated the entire Ilgna continent from ignorance seventy years ago.

Although magic is gradually declining, the emerging magical technology has gained new vitality due to his promotion. Under the leadership of the Grand Commander, the Federation gradually flourished and entered an unprecedented golden age.

Any elf will bow from the bottom of his heart when facing him. This is his own and well-deserved glory.

"Okay, we won't talk much nonsense. Come on, take a look."

Looking at the other party bowed calmly, the commander shook his head, and handed the telescope in his hand to Rolla: "The target is area 73 in the direction of eleven o'clock, above the lava canyon."

"Let's see, what exactly is that guy going to do?"

After taking the telescope, Rolla fiddled with it for a while, then put it in front of her and looked into the distance with the commander's guidance.

Now, the originally dense jungle on Sigma Volcano has turned into coke and fly ash, and the terrain has completely changed. Many temporary cliffs and gaps have appeared on the peaks. Just above a canyon with golden lava flowing, Rora saw the existence.

A suffocating monster.

In the telescope's lens, a monster with a black body was walking slowly in the lava. The smooth curved body and limbs contained powerful explosive power. Its body was covered by black carapaces and giant thorns, which were extremely strong. Even the high temperature of thousands of degrees could not be destroyed. On the top of the head, two huge dragon horns stood up, and flame elements were flowing on it like ripples. Under the dragon horns, there was a pair of red and golden eyes that seemed to be burning, containing incomparable courage.

In the chest of this monster, there is a core like the sun. Seeing it is like seeing a small volcano with a flow of light that is invisible to see.

It seemed that someone was peeping. The monster casually glanced at the direction where the silver-haired elf was, then turned his head and continued to walk in the lava.

"So strong... this feeling is completely irresistible."

Luola, who was so scared by the glance that he almost sat on the ground, took a step back, covered his heart with one hand, and his purple eyes were filled with fear. He murmured to himself: "It's too huge, bigger than the data. It's estimated that it has exceeded thirty meters. Is it a previous observation error?"

"No, it's during this time, it's getting bigger."

The voice of the commander came from behind Rora, and the red-haired elf had a hint of heavy voice: "Did you see the core of your chest?"

"nature."

The young biologist nodded, then calmed down his beating heart and continued to observe using a telescope.

Then, a scream came: "...wait, this core, is absorbing magma - no, fire element? Directly absorbing the power of the element with **, or fire element?!"

"It's incredible that he has such a strong body!" Rolla's tone was full of surprise and fear: "In this case, a slightly weaker weapon will have no use to this monster, and it can even completely absorb those powerless attacks!"

"Yes." The commander nodded. He looked at the volcano in the distance with a long gaze: "It is completely different from those monsters. It - currently temporarily named the Volcano Dragon - has a very high magic affinity and can independently grow by absorbing magic elements. In just over a day, its size has become much larger."

"Yes, although it is also almost magical immunity, it is indeed different from those monsters that are isolated from magic. This is caused by being too friendly, and is it called a dragon..."

Nodding thoughtfully, Rora said softly with a slight nostalgic voice: "In 785, the Federally published "Fantasy Mythical Creatures". I first saw this word in this book. It was really because I fell in love with this book in my childhood that I embarked on the path of studying weird creatures."

He raised his telescope again and looked at the monster bathed in lava and walking casually in the volcanic area. The silver-haired elf nodded in agreement and said, "Volcano Dragon? It's not so appropriate, it's exactly the same as the one described in the book... Could it be that the ones recorded in the book are not fantasies and myths? Do dragons really exist?"

"All myths and legends have prototypes. Today's myths may not be the real history of that year. They are just because they are too long and everyone has forgotten them."

He said with some emotion, the commander was silent for a while, then shook his head and smiled, "Since you are here, you will be given the task of observing the daily activities of this creature. After all, I am not a professional, and the information collected by other special teams is not perfect. I hope you, a biologist, can analyze something new from its actions."

"My pleasure."

When he reached the field he was good at, Rola became confident. He picked up the telescope and carefully observed the situation in the distance.

The hill here is less than five kilometers away from Sigma Volcano, which is actually not far away at all. The magma and mud rain caused by the last volcanic eruption have completely changed the shape of the original peak, and the stone cliffs on which the two of them were also newly formed.

For such a giant beast, a distance of several kilometers is only a few minutes. Although many details can be found at this distance, it is also very dangerous.

But Lola didn't care. His dream was to look for and observe any strange creatures up close. This danger was nothing to him. Even without the commander's instructions, the silver-haired elf would find a way to come here.

Although I knew that someone was paying attention to it, the giant beast seemed not interested in this group of tiny existences. It was just walking back and forth in the two areas of No. 73 and No. 75, as if looking for something. The volcanic dragon roared from time to time, causing the surrounding fire elements to explode and produce a violent explosion. This action alerted all the soldiers near the stone cliff, but it did not have any follow-up actions and was still just walking.

After only a little while of observation, Rora has already obtained a lot of information.

"The body is slender, similar to the sea snake, and its wings do not seem to develop completely and should not have the ability to fly."

"It seems that compared to running, it is more suitable for swimming. The tail is very strong and the driving force in the water is very huge. However, it can only be used as a weapon on the shore, otherwise it will be a burden."

"From the body shape alone, it seems to be aquatic species."

Speaking of this, he couldn't help but frown, as if he felt a little contradictory, "But it can manipulate the fire element... Well, yes, it lives in volcanoes, and should be active in lava and high-temperature hot springs, which is not a conflict."

After all, it is a volcanic dragon, and it cannot be said by common sense. It can indeed live in lava. Rolla continued to wear a telescope and mobilize the spells on it for focus and amplification: "Body size, limb shape... but there are some horse characteristics in this regard. It is estimated that the running speed is at least 70 kilometers per hour. Since it is a magic species, its limit speed cannot be predicted."

As information after message was summed up, Rora was really confused: "Strange, its way of action... seems to be really looking for something."

"What is this dragon looking for?"

Of course it is a way home.

Unable to find their own target, the black dragon roared angrily to the sky, and wave-like waves of fire element swept through the hot lava and spreading in all directions. Luola and the commander in the distance suddenly felt a pressure from the ancient wilderness and the top of the food chain. They looked at the volcanic dragon that was originally walking slowly and jumped up, and ran to the distance faster than the strong wind.

After only a few seconds of stunned silence, the other person's figure disappeared into the smoke and dust it stirred up.

Rolla, who was still afraid, quickly reacted. He picked up the communicator in his hand and roared: "...I am the commander, Urken Uranor, in my name, I will immediately issue the No. 1 warning order!"

"The powerful creature codenamed Volcano Dragon has escaped from Sigma Volcano, and now..."

As he said that, he looked in the direction of the smoke and dust flying, and said in a quick and fearful tone: "He is heading towards the capital of Babel Province!"
