Three years ago, I was sent to work in the former newspaper in Shanghai to work in the southwest. But soon I discovered that Guangxi was not as barbaric as I imagined, nor was it the backwardness described by other people.

My first stop was Guilin, Guangxi. In addition to the beautiful scenery, it seems to have strong agriculture and animal husbandry.

There are many farmers here, and they are not the malnourished body I have seen in other provinces in China. After talking to them, I learned that the Southwest attaches great importance to agriculture. Here, for 28 years, the landlords who had a history of illegal and criminal activities were tried and redistributed the land to farmers. The landlords who did not commit crimes were also funded by the government to acquire part of the land and allocate them together.

After reallocating the land and distributing excellent rice seeds, the agricultural production in the southwest has developed well and received unanimous support from farmers. This has also been confirmed by me in other provinces in the southwest. The agricultural development in the southwest is not only far higher than that in other provinces, but also brings many farmers strongly support the Southwest government.

If you have not been to the southwest rural areas, you can't imagine the local people's fanatical support for the southwest government. I originally thought that the southwest government used some demons and ghosts to fascinate people. But now I know what the southwest practice can achieve. The southwest farmers are very supportive of the government's administrative measures, cleaning and sanitation to reduce the spread of diseases, organizing the construction of water conservancy irrigation during the slack farming period, running schools to learn literacy, and regularly entering the village to teach how to increase agricultural product output. Here, with the certificates and permits issued by Li Supervisor, I can interview and contact many workers and go deep into the production unit to understand the real production and the real life of workers. Of course, I still automatically avoided some places involving confidentiality.

The first thing I need to write about here is the heavy engineering machinery manufacturing factory in Liuzhou. The reason for writing this machinery factory is the letter that accused me of being a fantasy. The letter expressed doubts about the construction of various projects in the southwest so quickly. It also expressed disbelief of the small amount of labor required for many large-scale projects.

Some people will choose to go home to farm, some people will continue to learn vocational skills in the county's technical schools to enter various factories to seek survival. Some students will go to the county's high schools to study and prepare to apply for various advanced technical schools (universities) in the southwest.

It seems a bit ridiculous that there is no university in the southwest. But the fact is that. In the eyes of the Southwest Education Bureau, there is no university in China. In Pingguo County, the holy place of education in the southwest, the Southwest Advanced Vocational and Technical School here seems to be the only school that can get close to universities, but I know. If this is not a university, then there is no school in China that can be called a university!

The name of the advanced technical school is really bad, just like the blue-collar class that trains handicraftsmen, but the students trained here are more qualities and have higher majors than those trained in other Chinese universities. They pay more attention to hard work rather than based solely on theory. I can see that students in the agricultural department spend more time studying in the fields, and can also find students in the geology department in the foothills. They can see students wearing protective clothing sweating profusely in front of the smelting furnace of thousands of degrees, and they can also see them discussing and researching the latest scientific and technological topics with each other outside the advanced research institute.

Although the advanced technical school is not a university, its annual scientific and technological research results and academic papers can not only cause a sensation abroad, but also add up the total annual academic research volume of all Chinese universities to less than one-fifty of this school. No matter in these schools, books are free but public. Every student receives education on public property care at the beginning of school entrance.
