Chapter 288 The Second Sweeping Monk (Part 2)

The dust cannot be wiped out, so if I don’t wipe it, it will be no longer dust.

This sentence sounds very unreasonable, but when you think about it carefully, it does not tell the truth in the ordinary sense, but a state of mind that can only be understood from the world and life.

This is different from the Zen principle of "wiping it frequently and not causing dust". Li Bufu thought about it and speculated that the Zen Tao learned by the monk sweeping the floor should not be learned to imitate Zen Master Shenxiu, but to be passed down from the Sixth Patriarch Huineng.

Li Bufu thought for a long time and asked: "Senior, 'Seventy-Two Skills of Shaolin', everything is unique in martial arts. I wonder how many abilities are you proficient in?"

It is rumored that no monks from later generations can learn all the seventy-two unique skills of Shaolin. The difficulty is that the internal power of each unique skill is different. If you learn one of the gentle martial arts, it will be difficult to learn another domineering martial arts. This will be explained clearly when the disciples are taught martial arts from generation to generation in Shaolin Temple.

This is also a common sense that everyone knows in Shaolin Temple.

Li Bufu was also very curious whether the sweeping monk could break this conventional "rule".

The monk sweeping the floor slowly said: "Shaolin's unique skills, two ways of body use. After learning the "Prajna Palm" in the seventy-two Shaolin skills, it is difficult to learn another "Vajra Boxing". It is only because these forces are incompatible with each other, and the ways of body use are one. If you force it, the forces will inevitably conflict with each other. Although those with high internal strength can temporarily suppress them with their profound internal strength, they will have great trouble after practicing it over time. Only by resolving them with profound Buddhist practice can you avoid any trouble."

After he finished speaking, he said, "If you don't study Buddhism and are more ignorant of martial arts, you should not be a Buddhist disciple. Therefore, I have not actually practiced any of the 72 unique skills of Shaolin."

Li Bufu said in surprise: "I haven't practiced a single subject?" He thought instead and suddenly said: "But didn't I see you using a move of 'empty to the end' in Prajna palm last time?"

The sweeping monk smiled and said, "I only know that move."

Li Bufu said in his heart: "You only know that Prajna Palm, but you actually come to give me some advice. This is a strange thing."

The monk sweeping the floor seemed to know what Li Bushu thought, so he walked to the bookshelf and opened a secret book, which read "The Undecided Fingering Method of Great Wisdom".

He looked for a while and suddenly said, "This fingering method should be used in this way."

laugh!

The monk sweeping the floor stretched out his palm and popped out his index finger, middle finger and ring finger three fingers one after another. The wind blew by and blew into the distance. Suddenly, there was a book called "The Four Practices of Entering the Tao" on one bookshelf and was raised by the wind. He turned several pages, and it was vaguely visible under the light that it said:

"Who can be at peace with all the body? After reaching this place, he abandons all the existences and stops thinking and not seeking. The scripture says: All the seeking is suffering, and no seeking is happiness."

Li Bufu was slightly surprised. What surprised him was not that the sweeping monk controlled the finger wind very well, and only tilted the pages of the book, but did not hurt the book body; but that the sweeping monk only read "The Undecided Fingering Method of Great Wisdom" and could use it immediately, which was simply unheard of.

Li Bufu said: "Senior, have you never seen this fingering method before?"

The monk sweeping the floor: "Of course I have seen it, but I have never practiced it."

Li Bufu breathed a sigh of relief and said, "So that's it. I dare to ask why seniors don't practice?"

The sweeping monk smiled and said, "When you first came, why didn't you scan the dust in the Sutra Pavilion?"

Li Bufu was speechless.

The monk sweeping the floor continued: "The reason why I watch these martial arts is to understand the Buddhist principles contained in these Buddhist martial arts. As for the martial arts itself, it is not very important."

Li Bufu no longer asks questions.

He believed that the Sweeping Monk was qualified to say this because the "Shaolin Seventy-Two Skills" were not created by Master Bodhidharma alone, and many of them were spent on their lives by monks in later generations. However, these monks of later generations may not be as good as those of the Sweeping Monks. Naturally, there is no need to learn their martial arts.

The monk sweeping the floor said with great meaning: "The way of martial arts is originally like this. Only when you learn it when you are excited and practice it from the heart can you achieve great success. Those who practice Buddhism will learn Buddhist martial arts. Like the old donor Murong Bo, if he does not practice Buddhism, learning Shaolin martial arts will be useless and harmful. The more you learn, the deeper your anger will be."

"If I expected it was not bad, the old donor Murong Bo would have to endure the pain of acupuncture in three acupuncture points in Yangbai, Lianquan and Fengfu every day. It is easy to do this. After two years, his illness will occur three times a day, and each time it will be like tens of thousands of needles. That pain is beyond my imagination."

Li Bufu's heart moved.

——He remembered that when he was on Taihu Lake, he and Murong Bo took a boat out of the lake. Murong Bo suddenly felt pain and couldn't bear it. Fortunately, Li Bufu remembered the saying of the Sweeping Monk and him to resolve the grudges and let him go, otherwise Murong Bo's body would have sank to the bottom of Taihu Lake.

At that time, he thought it was Murong Bo's old injury, but now it seems that it was what the Sweeping Monk said, "It has not been used to eliminate the hostility through Buddhism."

Li Bufu thought secretly, his thoughts were changing, and countless emotions arose.

The Sutra Pavilion suddenly fell silent again.

Only thousands of dust particles remained, floating and sinking in the air in the sunlight, flowing freely.

Dust is densely covered with dust, each flows in its shape, and it is like one world after another.

After a long time, Li Bufu didn't speak anymore.

The sweeping monk said again: "If you want me to give me some advice, I can tell you a lot."

"After entering the master, the second level of internal strength and moves are the 'Ren Du Realm' and 'No Action Realm'. You are in this realm and have all realized it, so I don't need to mention it."

"And the third level is the state of "entering the state of divine sitting and illuminating" and "the state of nothing in the mind."

"The so-called "so-called sitting in the divine and illuminating" must be completely relaxed, the man and nature must be united, the spirit wanders in the air, and sits in the body. The internal force is between being close and being separated, and only when it is used is used, but if it is not used, there will be no loss."

"While there is nothing in the heart, those who use swords have no sword in their hearts, and those who use swords have no sword in their hearts. Without swords, there is no need to be a sword. Without seeking to be a sword, there is nothing but a sword."

After the sweeping monk came one by one, he asked: "I have explained it very clearly. With your understanding, I must be able to understand it, right?"

"Yes. I can understand."

"Have you improved your level?"

Li Bufu replied with a wry smile: "No,"

The sweeping monk also smiled and said, "I have said it, and you understand it, but the realm has not changed, so it is useless for you to come to find me."

He suddenly lifted the broom beside him and swept the dust on the ground carefully one by one.

The dust was stimulated by the wind, and some floated up again. When the film was over, some fell down again.

The monk sweeping the floor was neither impatient nor busy, and quietly cleaned up and swept the dust to a place. Then he went back and swept it again. Only after three rounds could he stop.

Li Bufu didn't understand what he meant.

The sweeping monk said, "There is a big difference between 'knowing' and 'understanding'. I actually mentioned this principle to you last time, but you just didn't care."

Li Bufu sweated slightly on his head and said, "I remember it, I'm sorry."

The sweeper pointed to the broom and the ground and said, "I know you remember it. But what I want to say to you: This is just now, 'Wipe it frequently and don't let the dust get in."

Li Bufu suddenly realized.

He did remember that the Sweeping Monk once said the distinction between "knowing" and "understanding", but this time the Sweeping Monk said that he wanted to "wipe" his heart again, which made him more impressed.

Li Bufu said, "Thank you for your kindness to wipe it out."

The sweeping monk shook his head.

After a while, the sweeping monk still said nothing.

Li Bufu thought about it and was stunned for a moment, saying, "Wipe it frequently and don't let it get dust..."

He suddenly realized that the sweeping monk's move was not to wipe his heart and let him understand the difference between "knowing" and "understanding"; but to let him understand what it means to "wipe it frequently and not to cause dust."
