It has been released again, so as usual, I still have to talk about something. Although it is a repetition of the work, each time the work is different, there are still many differences in the impressions when it is released.
I have been writing books for more than 13 years, and most of them have been game novels.
"Traveling alone in the world" started in 2005; "Online Games: Melee Mage" started in 2008; "Full-time Master" started in 2011; and "Moment of the King" started in April this year. There were also two short stories mixed in the process, one was "Online Games: The Mission Tour of the River and Lake" serialized by a magazine, and the other has not been published publicly, so I am low-key, I keep it secret, and I will not say it.
Putting aside the two short stories, there are at least three years between the four long stories. I looked back and looked at it myself, and thought about it, and found that these works were mostly products that suited my mood at that time.
I started writing "Story of the World" in 2005. I had not graduated from college and had no special formal thinking about life. Playing games in an Internet cafe was my main way of entertainment when I was in college. So in my eyes, the game has entertainment attributes. So the protagonist in that work has no ideals, no purpose, no burden, and even no real life. I just experience the fun in the game, that's all.
Then in 2008, I wrote "Online Games: Melee Mage". After three years of graduation, I felt the pressure of survival and began to care about what I should rely on to live. Games are still a pastime, but when I am enjoying entertainment, I can't help but ask myself what the use of playing games is? This idea is once again reflected in the protagonist of this book. Gu Fei thought about "What is the use of kung fu?" In the end, kung fu can become a bug in the game. So he was very naive, giving the game a function other than entertainment in this book. And I myself was also thinking seriously from the pure entertainment state of playing games like playing games before.
Then in 2011, I wrote "A Full-Time Master". That year, I was 28, and I was two years away from the so-called thirty. I felt that I needed to have a clear direction and plan for the future. So there was Ye Xiu, a serious e-sports professional player. Games were his way out, ideals, talents, and achievements, and that was probably what I needed at that time. Once again, the protagonist of the novel was realized through games.
Then there is now, I wrote "The King's Moment". Before that, I no longer had the idea of writing game novels because I couldn't find anything else I wanted to write. The confusion, dumbness, uncertainty that I had when I was young has become the past. Games have become something for entertainment and entertainment again, and the way of entertainment and entertainment is very different from when I was 18: I no longer have the interest in watching any plot in the game. The cutscene CG and animation are all cancelled or skipped. I hate tasks or copies that take a certain amount of time to complete, and I no longer have the patience to deal with players in the game. My favorite game function is to hang up...
It was at this time that a friend around me began to grow up day by day.
When I was playing King of Glory, she would look at it curiously and ask who this is, who is it, which one, who is it? Is this a boy or a girl? Why are you a little girl? I think this is not as good as the last time. Why are you dead? Why are you dead again?
From then on, I couldn't help but wonder what the game is for me. But when this little friend grows up and starts to get involved in games, what will she think about games? How will she get along with games? Do the game have more functions and meanings in addition to entertainment during her growth?
Later, when I attended a new book launch conference of my good friend Lin Haitingtao, I was very inspired to hear him talk about the educational attributes of football. Because the educational attributes he mentioned cannot be said to be given by football, but by fair sports competitions. As long as he has this attribute, it will actually have the educational significance he mentioned.
So I thought about the game from a perspective I had never seen before. When I had not confirmed whether it was necessary to become a work, I thank Tencent for providing me with the game Honor of Kings as a blueprint. The real game is very conducive to the expression of my thoughts this time, so "Moment of Kings".
This work will be more realistic than the previous game novels, not just because the games used in the novel are real games, but because what I pay attention to and want to tell about in this book is something more personal.
If you look at the game carefully, it looks like a microcosm of life.
You were born in spring, you began to develop and grow, you began to face competition, everyone competed for limited resources, some people took the lead, became stronger and stronger, and some people frequently failed and were gradually left behind by others. How to stand firm in good times? How to catch up in adversity? When you win this game, how many depend on yourself? How many partners achieved you? When the next challenge comes, how many experiences and lessons did you learn from the last challenge?
All kinds of life seem to be reflected in this small game. Is the outcome of each game important? It is important because that is the goal you work hard in this game; but more importantly, how to face the next game after winning or losing in this game.
Some people may say that in a game, it is not so exaggerated. But this game, or any detail in life, is influenced by everyone's personality and emotions.
This is the direction I found for this book, and it is also what this book emphasizes: What can games bring us? What can we experience in games?
Feng Xiaoxiao is a simple gamer.
Gu Fei used games as a stage for showing off his strengths. (It's really a big strengths, purely literal)
Ye Xiu regards games as his ideal and goal.
This time, what will He Yu and his friends regard the game as? What will the game bring to them?
I hope they have many friends who love games to find the answer.
Finally, I feel that readers have long-term support and liked each other. I wonder how many people have read the first book. This is the sixth time it has been on the shelves!
