In fact, in the early "low-pressure steam engine", it was relatively high-pressure era compared with the mid-to-earth mid-19th century. The advantages of the re-swell steam engine were not very obvious. However, when Tieling special steel in the northwest of the east coast gradually began to produce and ferromanganese smelting was successful, the East Coast steam engine technology once again ushered in innovation.

The application of new materials allows the steam engine to use a larger air pressure to obtain higher output power. In the past, if people from the East Coast wanted to make a high-power steam engine, the only way was to increase the volume and weight of the steam engine, increase coal consumption, and then increase the overall output power of the steam engine. But in fact, the "thrust-to-weight ratio" of the steam engine did not increase, that is, the cylinder pressure per unit area did not increase, and of course the steam engine's rotation did not increase. Therefore, for marine power or 6-ground power, its efficiency is limited.

But now everything is different. The steam power system on the east coast is no longer the same as before. The emergence of the manganese iron cylinder has greatly increased the pressure that the cylinder wall can withstand, and the output power per unit area has greatly increased. Since then, it has entered the so-called "high-pressure steam engine" era. Then the design of the re-increasing steam engine with higher steam utilization efficiency has also been put on everyone's agenda.

In the construction of the Tahiti, all cylinders were manganese iron cylinders. The re-surgent steam engine composed of not only had the horsepower far from the past, but even the rotation was not comparable to the past. This caused a sharp increase in the actual indicating power of the steam engine system. Reflecting on the ship, it was a larger cast iron propeller than before, and the rotation was greatly improved. Therefore, without the help of sails and current power, the ship with a standard displacement of 13 tons could still be driven uniformly with a speed of about 67 knots in still water. This is a qualitative leap in the history of east coast shipbuilding. What's more, there are so many boilers, cylinders and propellers on the ship. Even if one of them fails and stops working, the ship will not lose its power completely and suffer from danger.
