Four hundred and sixtieth IX terraces (twenty-three)

The winter of 1672 was extremely cold for many people on the East Coast, especially for those living in the Patagonia platform, where the winter here is more intense than elsewhere.

The west wind, which had a speed of more than fifty kilometers per hour, roared across the town on the wasteland. The leaves of the industrial windmill outside the house were blown whirring, and the rapid power was transmitted to the connecting rod through the central computer room, driving a mill to run, grinding a large amount of golden wheat into fine flour.

There is no doubt that in the Patagonia platform area, wind has always been one of the main sources of power. The strong wind blowing from the Andes in the west provides an inexhaustible source of power for the vast Taiwan area all year round. Water irrigation in the river-forming oasis area, wheat processing in the mill, edible oil pressing in the oil mill and even the blowing of brick kiln factories all require this cheap energy, because there is no charcoal, no firewood, and no coal, and only the wild west wind all year round.

The industrial windmills of the East Coast people have been developing for several generations. From the 20-horsepower windmills imported from the Netherlands to the present, the East Coast people have developed five models of industrial windmills, with the power from the smallest 20 horsepower to the maximum 300 horsepower. The application range is becoming wider and the technology is becoming more and more advanced.

Even at the beginning of this year (1672), United Province also purchased some industrial windmill technology and components from the East Coast to provide the utilization rate of a large number of windmills in its domestic situation, which made many people talk about it. You should know that the Dutch may not be as good as the East Coast in steam engines, but they used windmills earlier than the East Coast people for many years, and their technical accumulation in this kind of thing is not necessarily lower than that of the East Coast people.

For example, you can have an intuitive understanding. In the lowland areas that are given specific gifts to nature, especially the Zan River Basin in western Amsterdam, the terrain is flat and the wind is strong, so a large number of industrial windmills are gathered, such as water diversion, drainage, sawing, grinding surface, wrought iron, etc., so the area has become a famous industrial area in the Netherlands. According to the Dutch, there are currently about hundreds of industrial windmills running all year round, especially after the outbreak of the French-Dutch War, the eastern region was threatened by war. Therefore, many factory owners moved their production sites to Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Dodrecht, Leiden, Haarlem and other places in the west, and rebuilt a large number of industrial windmills here, providing a steady stream of power for industrial production.

Even many towns have windmills on the walls and fortresses, which are used to lift water during wartime, which shows how much the Dutch have used wind power! According to historical statistics, there were about 8,000 windmills in the entire Union Province in the second half of the 17th century, and 2,000 by 1900 and 1,306 by 1950, but most of them are in disrepair and cannot work normally, so they can only be viewed by tourists.

However, since the basic knowledge is mainly about geometry, mathematics and mechanics, although the Dutch used windmills earlier, they were far less thorough than those of the latecomer, the East Coast. Because after long-term follow-up research by the Institute of Mechanics of the Engineering and Technology Research Institute of the East Coast, they already knew the specific quantitative relationship between the output power of the windmill, the wind speed and the windmill wing plate, that is, they summarized: a large industrial windmill with a wingspan of 30 meters (this industrial windmill is very large and consumes a lot of money due to its huge size.

The capital is very high, and there are only a few on the east coast, and most of them are located in the area of the South Cone Railway where the west wind is stronger). As an example, when the wind is third, the power at the shaft is about 20 horsepower; when the wind is fourth, it quickly climbs to about 65 horsepower; when the wind is fifth, the output power of this "wind beast" can reach an astonishing 220 horsepower, which has exceeded the total power of the central transmission system established by the government in many places, and the amazing degree can be seen.

Moreover, in many places in southern Patagonia, the wind power of normal times is likely to exceed level 5. Therefore, if there are large industrial windmills, they can theoretically obtain more than 220 horsepower, but they do not usually need too amazing power, so a lot of wind energy is eventually wasted. The windmills currently used by the Dutch are not as good as those of the East Coast people, whether they are big or small, the power at the shaft, the transmission efficiency, the accuracy and durability of the components, so it is normal to spend money to buy new technologies and durable parts. After all, their country cannot do without windmills, otherwise production and life will be greatly affected.

This industrial windmill, built in Nanding Port (that is, the later Brigadier General Rivadavia, a newly established settlement this year), is just a small and medium-sized windmill with the largest output of dozens of horsepower. It is invested by the state to grind surfaces, sawn wood, etc., which is very practical, but its huge noise day and night is unbearable. For example, Meng Xiaohu was awakened by the loud noise that kept roaring.

"It's too noisy, so I can't sleep well for a nap." After yawning gently, Meng Xiaohu, who was already dressed, stretched his waist, and then led a group of horses from the stable. While comforting, he said to everyone behind him: "Let's go early. I wonder if this broken place will make me mentally collapse. It's too noisy. Some bastard designed it at the beginning, and the industrial windmill was built near the township government. Isn't this absurd?"

When the crowd who were packing their luggage and equipment in the village heard this, they immediately laughed and said, "Captain, we have long wanted to leave here, it is indeed noisy. But the other day I saw you drinking with people here and it was so dark that I didn't mention this."

"Good boy, you actually dare to mock me for not doing this. You only know how to drink. I think the allowance for this inspection will be temporarily reduced by half. When you come back, you will decide whether to give it to you according to your performance." Meng Xiaohu said with a deliberate face, then turned over on the horse's back, turned around twice, then whipped the horse's whip hard, galloping to the wasteland.

Seeing this, the people who were packing their luggage smiled at each other, then seized the time to sort out the luggage and sent them to the pack horses. Then they greeted the cadres of the Nanding Township Government and headed towards the inland hinterland in the west. On this trip, they were commissioned by the State Development Administration and planned to go west from the Nanding Port area to the hinterland area of the platform to conduct a comprehensive and meticulous investigation of the local environment, climate, and vegetation conditions, and provide reference for the establishment of a new settlement here in the future.

The final destination of Meng Xiaohu and others was the famous areas of Lake Corvevapi and Lake Musters in Patagonia's later stages. Two months ago, a small team of cavalry on the east coast had been there. At that time, they chased after Hai'an County in the northeast along the Chico River Valley, and then completely dispersed and captured an indigenous Indian tribe. Therefore, it is relatively safe here, so there should be no indigenous tribes.

Lake Corvevapi and Lake Musters have been officially named Gemini Lake by the Ministry of Geology of the East Coast. The former is East Coast Lake in Gemini Lake and the latter is West Coast Lake. Among these two lakes, the area of East Coast Lake exceeds 800 square kilometers, making it one of the largest freshwater lakes on the east coast. It occupies a small basin, and the deepest part of the lake center is only four meters. In comparison, although the area of West Coast Lake next to it is only more than 400 square kilometers, the average depth of the lake has reached hundreds of meters, and the water capacity is naturally not comparable to that of East Coast Lake.

The reason for this situation is mainly because West Lake is supplied by the Senkel River flowing from the Andes to the west. Therefore, only when the water of West Lake is filled, the excess water will slowly overflow into the next East Lake, which creates a huge difference between the Twin Lakes.

Later Argentines established a city with a population of tens of thousands between these two lakes, which shows that this land implements a Feng Shui treasure land. Otherwise, how could it gather so many people in Patagonia, which is dry and barren and has always been vast and sparsely populated? You should know that this place is neither like Neiuken, with rich oil, nor is it like the Heishan Township in the south, which has the best quality coal with the best texture and largest reserves in the country, nor is it like the Chubut River and the Ludang River that form an oasis, which can gather so many people, relying on the relatively good climate and environment here! To put it bluntly, there is water here and a lot of water!

In fact, in a place like Patagonia, if there is sufficient water source, it is still easier to develop a medium-sized agricultural area. Not to mention the Chubut River, Ludang River, and Baoxing River, just talking about the Twin Lake area in front of you. Relying on its abundant water volume, there is no doubt that an agricultural area integrating grain planting, gardens, fruit trees, cattle, sheep and animal husbandry can be developed. Relying on this agricultural area, people on the east coast can easily control the surrounding tens of thousands or even hundreds of thousands of square kilometers of land. This is not an exaggeration.

Therefore, after the development of the Patagonian platform entered a new stage, settlements have been set up in good places in the north (of course, relatively speaking). After the development reached a certain level, the colder and more dry places in the south have gradually entered the eyes of Yang Mingyang and Cai Huaze, two real-powerful figures in Patagonian Meng Xiaohu Expedition Team, this action is a concrete manifestation of their will.

On August 25, 1672, Meng Xiaohu and his group of sixty or seventy people arrived in a rare area of Twin Lake, which was rare in Taiwan. In this lake area filled with a lot of water vapor, the vegetation on the ground was completely different from what they saw along the way. The sharp-eyed people actually discovered that the soft and juicy grass here meant that large-scale raising of cattle was possible, rather than the other parts of Taiwan, where sheep could only raise sheep, Patagonia was harsh, with low shrubs and thorny weeds growing close to the ground. These things were only eaten by sheep. The cows were limited to the physiological structure of the mouth and could not eat them. Not to mention that water-saving agriculture and planting grains can be vigorously developed here. In short, there are all necessary conditions for becoming a beautiful oasis on the Gobi Desert. It is indeed not a decision to set up a settlement here.

It is worth mentioning that with the development of the country and society, the upper class has basically reached a consensus that, such as the drought Patagonia, the humid and hot Jiaohe area, and the relatively remote and dangerous Yicheng area, the early development will be more borne by non-national labor workers who have turned into regular employment. Taking Patagonia as an example, the region could have received an immigration quota of about 6,000 people every year, and was usually mostly Ming people immigrants, mixed with a few non-national labor workers who have turned into regular employment. However, after the new policy came out, at least two-thirds of the 6,000 people will be

The remaining two thousand talents were replaced by the newly-received Far East immigrants (trying to be based on families as much as possible). From this we can see that non-national labor workers are also unlucky enough. Even if they have been working for five years, they are still "discriminated" even if they are reborn. Most people cannot stay in the bustling and livable east prairie and the Yazi Lake area. They can only settle in places with more difficult life and harsh environments. It is indeed frustrating to think about it, but there is nothing they can do.

"The new Shuanghu Township (located near the later city of Salminto) can be located here." Meng Xiaohu inserted a spear pole on the ground and said, "A water conservancy building is also needed to connect the two major lakes in the east and west. Now the communication between the two lakes is entirely due to overflow after the water is filled. It is really bad. In the future, it is inevitable to build an artificial canal between these two lakes. Even the construction of a large water lifting station with multiple industrial windmills will be put on the agenda. Once these are done, I can guarantee that a prosperous city with a large population will soon develop here."

In fact, later generations of Salmiento, Argentina, was built on an oasis between the two lakes. The city used lake water and river water to irrigate small areas of vegetable and fruit planting, and raised large herds of cattle, sheep and other livestock. Then, through railways, it supplied food to Rivadaveyah in the east. Rivadaveyah in the Bay of San Jorge is the largest oil producer in Argentina. In later generations, it was the fastest-growing and most populous settlement in Patagonia. It mainly exports oil and wool, and is the core city in the mid-latitude region of Patagonia.

However, in the 17th century when oil could not be exploited and utilized, Nanding Port (Rivadavia) was destined to be an outer port for incoming and exporting goods in Shuanghu Township. Shuanghu Township, which has water sources and agricultural areas, is the boss. If Nanding Township thinks about it, it will probably have to wait until the era when oil, such an energy source, is popular.
