Chapter 11 Dawn of Rhodes Island (Part 2)

The navigator beside Kassio hung a small lamp on the statue of the sea god at the tail of the ship. The faint light on it became the only direction for the ship behind it. Because the Rhodes who were burning and burning boats even destroyed the lighthouse of the Port of Camillos. The second ship also did the same. Small orange flames were moving between the dark sea and the clouds, accompanied by the sound of paddling.

Kasio himself stood in front of the ship, his expression was nervous, and his breathing almost stopped. On his pale face, his pair of burning eyes, hoping to take everything from the sea and underwater to the point where he could see it. He understood that all the outcome of this battle was on the flagship at the forefront. As long as there was an unavoidable reef that would cause his flagship to be stranded or severely damaged, then everything was over, it was really over.

The water surface was constantly being drawn, the sails were not raised, and the speed of the ship was kept to an extremely cautious level, which helped to temporarily change the route and ensure the safety of the fleet.

This was a very tense moment. Finally, in the slight morning light coming from the sea, Kasio and the navigators saw that in front of the harbor of Camillos, the part of the shipwreck exposed the waterline, dark and lush, like rolling hills, "Commander, will this narrow channel be the enemy's trap?"

"The Rhodes people suffered heavy losses before. The walls of the city guarding the city were exhausted. They really had no paddlers and crew to guard the port. You know, the Rhodes people cherished the most is the ships. Now they are all sunk, and they will never do this until they are exhausted." Kasio slowly expressed his determination and support for the surprise attack. Then the flagship's paddles quickly stopped. The entire ship slowly approached the port based on the tide. Almost all crew members were nervously unable to control themselves at this moment. Finally, with a dull impact, everyone swayed on the deck and cabin. After they sat back, there was a curse coming from it, "The side of the ship was caught by the wreck!"

"Damn!" Kasio whispered a low hammer of his hand and roared suddenly. Then he waved his hand and shouted to the centurion and the navigator. "Give me a paddle and push the flagship away!"

The order was conveyed quickly, and the paddler crew members came to the hung side, waved the long oars, sickles, pushed and chopped, and flew everywhere. Then, in the sound of the whistle, they came to the other side of the ship's side, which would reduce the weight there, and then in the cabin at the bottom. The paddlers sitting on the bench full of water shouted collectively in the low drum beats. They paddled hard on one side, and the helmsman was sweating heavily and carefully grasped the direction of the ship.

Finally, the flagship like a giant beast slowly swung, then moved forward cleverly, "sliding" about eighty Roman feet along the tide again, crossed the "ship wreck fortifications", and entered the suddenly enlightened inner harbor, "Stop the oars, get off the anchor, get off the anchor!" Kassio ran to the bridge and shouted loudly. At this time, life became noisy on the towers and walls on both sides of the harbor.

After throwing the water into the anchor, it splashed huge waves and made a "pop" sound, it was almost at the same time as Kassio's shouts - lead bullets, stone throws and crossbow arrows, whizzingly rowing various trajectories and flying towards the huge flagship - the Rhodes who noticed the situation responded quickly and launched a counterattack.

"Rise up the shield, raise up the shield." The Kasio soldiers on the deck stacked the shields hanging on the side of the ship, using hand to resist the counterattack of the Rhode Islanders. At this time, in the hidden dock in the Harbor Square, the locals rode out in the remaining fast paddle boats and rushed out bravely at Kasio's flagship. Of course, they understood that as long as they could injure and destroy the only enemy ship opposite, no matter how many enemy ships there were outside, it would be useless and could not be entered.

The soldiers of Kasio shouted and prepared to face the challenge. They stood on their posts, either in cabins, paddle benches, decks, towers and bows, using long paddles, sickles, stones and crossbows to strike head-on against the small Rhode Island boats coming from all directions. This is an arsenal ship. Kasio has very trust in its barrier combat capabilities. This is the fact. The Kasio flagship, which is backed by a shipwreck, is not surrounded. After the anchor is placed, it is like a static camp with rapid firepower, which makes the Rhode Island paddle boats that are trying to quickly encircle from both wings. They are helpless in the fierce rain of bullets, some of them sink and some are injured, and can only light up the burning smoke and escape in dispersion. Many heads float on the sea and swim to escape.

"Snap time, when the Rhode Islanders launch a second siege, we must take action." As he said, at the stern of the Kasio flagship, several military slaves and soldiers were controlling the crossbow. A gun with an iron hook was mounted in the noose. After quickly regaining the force, a slogan of fire was called. The gun with a rope tail flew through the waterway between the wreckage, and fell directly on the deck of the ship behind. It was quickly lifted up by the crew and hung it at the mechanism of the bow of its own ship and bit it. Then the stern crossbow of this ship was as usual. Soon, all the ships in the Kasio column were connected with each other with iron cables.

Then a signal flag was erected on the tower of the last ship, and then he turned around and passed one by one until he stood straight on the bridge. Seeing that the second ship on the side of the wreck also erected a signal flag, he nodded and shouted, "Rise the anchor and row!"

After saying that, Kasio's oarsman had already prepared, began to sway his arms vigorously. In the narrow cabin, there were squeaking sounds of oars shaking everywhere. The flagship advanced forward, braved the raging rifle and arrow feathers flying everywhere, and pulled the second and third ships, like long sea snakes, into the gaps, and took the opportunity to divide the water surface of the ring-shaped Kamilos Harbour into two halves, so that the Rhodes light ships could no longer surround them!

At this time, the sun had risen, and the two legions of Kasio over there began to attack bravely in the direction of the front city wall. Fireworks rose up and ravaged under the blue sky. Kasio's flagship first rushed to the shallow water area inside the port of Camillos. The soldiers on both sides jumped off the side of the ship, and then climbed and attacked the buildings and the city wall towers by the water.
