Section 2 Yicheng Port

To the north of Yicheng, just on the north bank of the Luo River, is Yibei Port, the largest naval port in Dongping Country. From the Wangjiang Tower, you can vaguely see some of the Yibei Port's masts, the naval ships of various colors entering and leaving the port, and the training of the navy stationed in Yibei Port.

But what is even more attractive is the row of boats of all sizes and people of all kinds along the river in Yicheng. The Wangjiang Tower is located at a port where any ship can dock. This section of the port is made of bluestone, and the densely docked ships are all large ships over 10 meters long. Judging from the shape of the ship and the carvings at the stern, they should be ships from several major maritime merchant families. Even a section of the harbor here is unique in loading and unloading goods. You can still see far above the Wangjiang Tower.

At the port where small and medium-sized boats are concentrated, the barefoot porter struggles to carry bags tied with hemp ropes and walks on the springboard. In this section of the port, some strong men are bare-armed, pulling extremely thick hemp ropes, and transporting a large number of goods to the port with a simple hanging rod. Whenever a hanging of goods lands, several porters immediately move the goods out of the net pockets of the hemp ropes and put them neatly on one side. The minor officials of the port immediately stepped forward to count the goods and register them.

In order to encourage businessmen, Dongping State did not implement taxes, but the control of entry and exit of goods was quite strict. Especially the "Marine Traffic Law" implemented four years ago reduced the original landing tax, ship tax, sea lady head tax, pirate sweeping donations, port affairs creation donations, river dredging and clearing donations, and river sacrifice donations, from the original total of 20% or even more of the price of goods to 10% of the price of goods, and then added additional taxes on goods of varying amounts.

Only the 7 tax combination became a regular maritime tax, which seemed to reduce the tax rate, but after one year of implementation, the total of four ports in the north and south of Dongping State said that the tax received increased significantly compared to the original one. Many maritime merchants who originally smuggled took the initiative to pay the tax to obtain the protection of the Dongping Navy. The smuggling merchants were the first to rob smuggling merchants who saw some of the pirates they dared not report to officials, and felt that it seemed that the business was profitable, and many simply naturalized and surrendered to do serious maritime business.

The surcharge tax of goods is different. With the surcharge tax of goods, Dongping State has mastered a tool that can be called macro-control for the first time. Dongping's domestic grain is not rich, but in the past, the purchase of grain from Chunnan State was too high, which was not profitable for maritime merchants. Now, the surcharge tax of grain is only 2 cents, and many powerful maritime merchants immediately saw huge benefits. In the past few years, not only did the large amount of grain transported into the country keep the grain price of Dongping State at a low level, but also allowed the Dongping State court to be able to purchase a large amount of grain inventories for disasters. Compared with grain

Dongping, which lacks pastures, lacks horses, especially grasslands from the Northern Liao Kingdom and even the north, suitable for cavalry war horses. Therefore, the additional tax on horseback varieties is even more peculiar. Not only is it not taxed, but it even gives a subsidy of 6 cents. However, horses sold from the north only pay 4 cents. Such a good business has attracted many merchants who are very popular in the north. They have either hooked up with local governments or simply smuggled. In recent years, no less than 40,000 horses of various types have been sold from the north, which has reduced the price of horses in Dongping by more than half.

Although the tax rate is low, there are more businessmen who pay taxes. However, the officials of the four ports of Dongping State are very busy. Although the officials of each port are often open and closed for small amounts of red envelopes and do not investigate in depth, the port officials are really a fat man that many people envy, as long as they find conspiracy to smuggle, it is 30 military sticks and one year of detention, which also makes the officials of the port always work with their tails and will never engage in private fraud.

A much larger crane was erected at the port a little further away. Unlike these simple human cranes nearby, the large crane was connected to a tic-tac-shaped winch pulled by four horses, which was actually driven by animal power. The lady was interesting to see and was about to ask the waiter to call the shopkeeper to ask, but suddenly she heard a sound on the second floor of Wangjiang Tower.

As soon as a young man in a green gown stepped onto the second floor, he chanted in a very flattering voice: "Xiao Ke just learned that a graceful lady was coming to Yicheng. Her charming appearance was fascinating. Can Xiao Ke be allowed to see her? Xiao Ke is willing to tell the local customs for the guide and the lady."

The lady frowned. She had met many such people along the way. Dongping country has free style, and many rich young people thought they were elegant and had to come up to meet each other without knowing what to do. However, like this guy now, no, it was not just frivolous, but the tone of the voice was simply lewd. The lady couldn't help but show a disgusting expression.

Although the two guards sitting next to him did not see the expression of their ladies through the screen, they knew that such people were never pleasing. The two guards stood up together and stood in front of the young man. The young man could not see the situation clearly at all, and actually shouted there: "I admire your ladies now, and you two slaves are so rude." He actually shouted at the top of his voice: "Miss has been here for less than two hours and has become famous in Beicheng. Please give Xiaoke a chance." The manner made other guests in the restaurant glar at the side. However, the waiter hid aside timidly, looking disgusted and helpless. It was obvious that this young man has not come here to make trouble again and again, and he has been used to it.

"Uncle Liu, don't smash the boat." The lady ordered in an extremely gentle tone. Mr. Liu, who was sitting next to him, was stunned. Then he placed the cup of tea that had been poured in front of the lady, and respectfully agreed: "Yes."

Mr. Liu stepped out from behind the screen, ignored the young man's words, lifted up the young man's clothes and swung it out, then turned around and walked back to the screen, but he didn't even look at it. The young man screamed at the torch and was thrown out of the building. He flew over ten feet away and landed in the water of the port, and landed between two large ships. The move that Mr. Liu suddenly showed was shocking. Although the guests in the Linjiang Tower were dazzling, they were extremely shocked.
