Chapter 497: Computational materials science that is not taken seriously
It was Friday when Qin Ke returned to Qingmu University.
At noon, after dinner with Ning Qingyun, he walked to Professor He Liangfu's laboratory together, intending to have an in-depth understanding of two materials science topics.
Ning Qingyun was a little worried about Qin Xiaoke and said, "Is it really okay for Xiaoke to be alone at home?"
"Don't worry, that girl is not a primary school student. She is fifteen years old this year and is about to be sixteen. She has so much food at home and has tens of thousands of yuan in her own account. Even if she is too lazy to cook and order takeaway, she can't be hungry. If you really have to worry, you can ask Wei Guang to turn on the monitoring system and secretly see if the little girl has done anything bad at home." Qin Ke encouraged.
Last night, he took Qin Xiaoke back to the capital. This little girl took over Ning Qingyun. At night, she even pestered Ning Qingyun to sleep with her on the grounds that she was "fearing sleeping alone in a strange room".
This made Qin Keqing, who hadn't seen Xiao Baicai for a few days, planned to get close to her and carefully "visited" the room, how could he bear it!
It was tolerant, but it was unbearable. Qin Ke decided to teach the ignorant little girl a lesson. He didn't even prepare breakfast for her today, so he took Ning Qingyun back to school early in the morning.
Ning Qingjun looked at Qin Ke's bad appearance and couldn't help but smile and said, "So do siblings get along like this?"
"Yes, this is my biological brother." Qin Ke didn't care: "I believe that most brothers and sisters have been in such a state of "come, hurt each other" for a long time. The scene of "brothers, friends, sisters and sisters" only exists in memory."
Ning Qingjun pursed her lips and chuckled: "You said fiercely. If Xiaoke really had something to do, you would be so nervous?"
"There's no way, who said she is my sister? I'm just such a sister, so I can't ignore it, right? But according to me, I have to be lenient and strict with such a little girl."
Ning Qingyun, who has no brothers and sisters, is quite fresh about this kind of relationship. She yearns for it: "It's so good... But I have no temper with Xiaoke at all. She is so cute that she can't even spoil her."
"You are also her sister now, don't always spoil her. I'm going to make a fuss when I haven't seen her relying on your support. I'm going to bed until after twelve o'clock last night. I guess that lazy girl hasn't gotten up yet, or has just gotten up..."
Before Qin Ke finished speaking, his phone was shocked and prompted that there was new news.
He took it out and looked at it, then handed it to Ning Qingjun: "Look, I'm not wrong, right?"
I saw Qin Xiaoke’s WeChat message on my phone: “Brother, I got up, but I didn’t find breakfast… You won’t forget to prepare breakfast for me, right? (Tearful eyes.jpg)”
Qin Ke quickly replied: "Who said that after coming to Beijing, he can take good care of himself and learn how to do housework and cook? Prepare breakfast by yourself and wipe the floor at home. When I go back to the evening, I see a little dust on the ground, so I throw you out to sleep on the street."
"Brother, are you a devil? Will your conscience hurt? I want to ask Sister Ning to accuse you of your cold-blooded and ruthlessness! (Tears flowing.jpg)"
"Oh, OK, there's a reason to send you back to Yuanzhou tomorrow."
"No, brother, I'm good and obedient. I'll cook breakfast and mop the floor now... (I can't live forever.jpg)"
Qin Ke curled his lips and said to Ning Qingjun: "Let's go, don't pay attention to that lazy girl, just let her change her habit of laziness. When she goes back tonight, she will be happy to drive her to have a meal. That little girl is easy to coax."
YY
Ning Qingyun couldn't help but laugh: "No matter what, there are people waiting at home, and they always feel very warm. Xiaoke comes and the house becomes much more lively."
Qin Ke glanced at her lower abdomen: "You really want to be lively. Let's have a baby to play. Anyway, just plant seeds in the dangerous period..."
Ning Qingjun's little face suddenly turned red. She reached out and pinched Qin Ke: "What do you think about all day long? We are just a freshman!" Although she was very close to Qin Ke, she had already thought that she would marry this bad guy in the future, but when she heard about giving birth, no girl would be shy.
Qin Ke just joked casually, he was still very careful. Now that the two have not registered to get married, if Ning Qingyun has a child, there will be a lot of gossip. How could Qin Ke be willing to let his beloved girl be hurt a little bit?
...
When Qin Ke brought Ning Qingyun to Professor He Liangfu's laboratory, Professor He Liangfu, who had been notified in advance, had been waiting in person in front of the laboratory building.
Qin Ke was a little surprised to find that he hadn't seen him for a few months. Professor He's originally black and thick hair was actually covered with a lot of silver threads, and there was a little bit of fatigue on his face that could not be concealed.
Professor He has been under such great pressure on scientific research recently?
"Professor He, why are we so embarrassed to ask you to pick you up in person?"
"Hey, I'm asking you for help this time, why are you polite? Let's take you to meet the members of the research team first."
Just like Professor Hu Qingfeng's laboratory, Professor He Liangfu's laboratory also occupies a whole floor of the Materials Experimental Building. There are real laboratories, conference rooms, lounges, archives, offices, etc.
Professor He He Liangfu introduced: "The topics you two are 'Coating Research on Carbon Nanotube Fiber' and 'Improving Relaxation Ferroelectric Thin Film Materials'. Currently, each project has five doctoral students and about 17 graduate students, and two postdoctoral students are led by two postdoctoral students."
Professor He Liangfu is a doctoral student and graduate supervisor. These researchers involved in the project are basically his students.
Qin Ke and Ning Qingyun are not unfamiliar with joining the new research group. Under the introduction and recommendation of Professor He Liangfu, many doctoral and graduate students felt a little strange that they came to join their research group across the border, but they were too famous and still applauded warmly.
Professor He Liangfu reminded the two postdoctoral fellows and said, "Okay, everyone knows each other, and the next work must be coordinated with each other. Qin Ke and Ning Qingyun will join your team at the same time, trying to use computational materials to promote the progress of the research. In addition, they will also conduct experiments in person. As seniors, you should take them more."
This chapter is not over, please click on the next page to continue reading! The so-called postdoctoral fellow is not a degree, but a job in scientific research in a university research institution and laboratory after obtaining a doctorate. Generally, if you achieve excellent scientific research results within two years, you will have the opportunity to stay in the school or go to other universities and take up teaching positions.
Although postdoctoral students are often those who do not perform well during their studies and publish papers that do not meet the standards of staying at school as lecturers, some of them are not good at expressing their personalities, do not want to take the teaching position, but only want to engage in scientific research. They use the postdoctoral position as a qualification transition and strive to make good scientific research results within two years so that they can use the postdoctoral position as a bargaining chip to enter high-end research institutions or large companies after leaving the station.
Huo Guangxin, a postdoctoral fellow in the "Improvement of Relaxation Ferroelectric Film Materials" project team, first expressed his opinion: "Welcome to join the two juniors." His voice was short and his back was slightly hunched, giving people the impression of being serious.
The postdoctoral fellow in charge of "Coating Research of Carbon Nanotube Fibers" is a female senior. Her name is Tian Tianjiao. Her name is a bit rustic, her appearance is not outstanding, she has a round face and a fat figure. She smiles with small eyes and is quite friendly: "Qin Ke, Ning Qingyun, I have long been famous. I didn't expect that you are good at computing materials. It's amazing!"
Qin Ke speculated that Huo Guangxin should be taking the scientific research route, while Tian Tianjiao probably wanted to change his teaching position.
He reached out to Huo Guangxin, Tian Tianjiao shook it and said with a smile: "Qingyun and I are both in contact with computing materials for the first time. After hearing Professor He mentioned it, we just wanted to try this direction. We are far from being good at it. In the future, we would like to ask the two seniors to give us more advice."
It turned out that I had never been exposed to computational materials and was fooled by Lao He...
Including Huo Guangxin and Tian Tianjiao, everyone looked at Qin Ke and his eyes faintly with pity that "these two people went astray."
It's no wonder that computational materials science is not an easy subject to learn.
Computational materials science is a branch of computational chemistry and computational physics. In essence, it is no different from sub-fields such as computational fluid mechanics and computational biology. The core is based on theory and experimental data to establish mathematical models, conduct computational simulations, and computational deductions.
Like the other computing XX sciences, computing materials science was born because of the development of computers. It has been more than twenty years since then. It seems to have broad prospects, but it has developed very slowly in reality. It only plays a supporting role in theory and experiments. It can only be regarded as a relatively unpopular and unrespected branch discipline.
In the final analysis, it is because it is too difficult to implement and has too low accuracy.
First of all, it requires a deep understanding of the theoretical knowledge related to chemistry and physics of materials, and must master experimental methods and manufacturing processes. At least it must understand how experimental data is obtained and what changes will happen. The most important thing is that it has high requirements for mathematical level and can transform the data into a mathematical model based on the above-mentioned knowledge, and then program it and write a running program before it can be simulated through a computer.
This is only the first step. After that, the mathematical model must be repeatedly corrected and optimized based on the experimental data, and then the design and manufacturing process of the materials must be deduced, or the characteristics of the materials must be deduced, the reaction process, etc., to provide reference opinions for the experiment, etc.
Not to mention anything else, mathematical modeling alone involves establishing kinematic equations, state equations, structural evolution equations, differential equations and differential equations... and also set up dozens of parameters related to various experimental and theoretical related temperature, humidity, brightness, etc.
In addition, the most basic unit of materials is "molecules". When modeling mathematically, molecular dynamics, particle interaction systems, algorithms for particle ensemble motion equations (at least you need to master the common Villet algorithm and Jill algorithm), intermolecular potential, phase field dynamics, cellular automata methods, etc.
In short, if you want to be proficient in computational materials, you must be proficient in four major subjects: physics, chemistry, mathematics and computer science, and have extremely flexible thinking and a broad vision.
What's more, because the relevant mathematical modeling and programming are too troublesome, if an error occurs in a small parameter and a line of code is not written properly, the final deduction result is very different from the actual situation, and even goes in the opposite direction.
With such high requirements and such low fault tolerance, who is willing to learn?
