But when you conquer the world, the territory will be defeated, and you must start rewarding merits and struggle for profit. No one is willing to take less. If someone thinks they are less, then he will raise his troops and continue fighting.
When defending the world, the monarch will show benevolence and righteousness. If everyone does not object, then it will be a good part. If you feel dissatisfied, you must say that the monarch is competing for profit with the people and is unkind, and you will also avoid rebellion. You will continue to negotiate and compromise under the framework of benevolence and righteousness.
These words can be said to be red fruits, and benevolence, righteousness and morality are completely a fig leaf for sharing profits. Speaking it will definitely make Meng Ke so angry that he can make him smoke, so Yun Yao didn't say it.
When Mencius heard that Yunyao wanted to let go, he suddenly realized that the theory of Qiwu was indeed useful. However, if we really look at history from a different perspective, if the monarch's benevolence and righteousness are really based on the distribution of profit, what is the meaning of benevolence and righteousness?
"Okay, I'll let it go. Then tell me, if you follow what you said, wouldn't even sages not talk about benevolence and righteousness but only share profits? What's the use of benevolence, righteousness, propriety, wisdom, filial piety, brotherhood, integrity and shame?" Mencius asked with a pale face.

Seeing that he was very calm, he calmed down and said, "The State of Chu called uncarved jade Pu, and there was a kind of food in Song State that was called rat dry, which was also called piao. However, the people of Chu and Song State could eat and drink together, which was the result of benevolence, righteousness and morality." Different countries such as the country can chat together because we all believe in benevolence, righteousness and morality. I know that Master Meng, you are a person who talks about benevolence and righteousness, and will not worry about my property. Master Zhuang Zhou, you know that Zhuang Zhou is a person who talks about benevolence and righteousness, and will not worry about your life. We are all people who talk about benevolence and righteousness, so we will not meet each other. And because Master is a guest and I am the master, then we should each keep the etiquette of the master and the guest. I know that Master, you are a good guest, and Master, you also know that I am a good master. These are all the credits of benevolence and righteousness."
Although benevolence and righteousness only divide profits, not profits. But after the division, everyone should talk about benevolence, righteousness and morality. This is a social contract, and everyone must abide by it. By abiding by benevolence, righteousness and morality, we must ensure that our own interests are safe. So when someone starts to emphasize benevolence and righteousness and suddenly says that we should reason, the other party does not really promote benevolence and righteousness, nor does it really need to reason, but reaffirm benevolence and righteousness and truth to ensure that our own interests will not be lost. Because if everyone talks about benevolence and righteousness and reason, then we should abide by the current distribution, and we should not cross the line, so we should naturally be well.
After hearing this, Mencius nodded. These words were good. Isn't it? If people do not talk about benevolence and righteousness, the crowd would not be able to gather together. But after understanding this principle, he couldn't help but say: "The Legalists do not talk about benevolence and righteousness, and because they make profits, they are attracted to all countries, but they may not last long." Mencius' intuition told him that the weakness of the Legalists had emerged, but he could not catch them for a while.
"It is true, because the Legalist law cannot be covered in everything. Law has limitations and law enforcement also has costs. Moreover, too strict law enforcement and too loose law enforcement can make people dissatisfied. However, benevolence, righteousness and morality are different. There are no clear regulations and they will not force everyone to abide by it, but everyone will often abide by it consciously. Therefore, the Legalist law is only technology, and needs to be replaced according to local conditions and timely conditions, while the Confucian benevolence and righteousness can develop for a long time." Simply put, although the law protects everyone's interests, it will also harm interests on the other hand. But benevolence is much simpler, with great flexibility and can be used to protect one's interests to the greatest extent.
The law is a clear boundary. If you go over, don’t blame the law for being unkind. Therefore, no one who is stopped by the law will like it and will oppose the law. Therefore, Qin law was opposed by the people of the six kingdoms in the future because in their opinion, Qin law does not protect itself, but hurt itself. This is the flaw of the Legalists. The Legalists can make profits, but it is difficult for everyone to accept it after peace. Therefore, bad people can accept benevolence and righteousness, but they will never accept the law.
Benevolence and righteousness are very vague and flexible. They can jump repeatedly and leaps in it. They can use self-protection or moral weapons to attack others. Who doesn’t like it? It is precisely because everyone likes it that men, women, young and old, kind and evil can sit together to talk about benevolence and righteousness, and compromise based on benevolence and righteousness. Compromise is a symbol of civilization, and uncompromising means extremeness.
Mencius was in a complicated mood and didn't know what to say.
Zhuang Zhou even looked at Yun Yao with admiration. Unexpectedly, the other party had already used his theory of equality and practiced, and he actually let go of his intentions, talking about profit and righteousness, which was flexible and changeable. This dialogue had the greatest impact on Mencius because he had to face the facts, that is, Confucianism has the shortcomings of Confucianism and it really could not make profits. Even if Mencius proposed to use the truth to fight the truth, it would not be as good as the various methods of Legalism to create profits. However, Confucianism has its own advantages, that is, it can tolerate more people, and the Legalism's shortcomings is that it cannot be recognized by everyone.
