Anyway, Li Shimin, who is an emperor, will not know the suffering of beggars, and beggars will not enjoy the blessings of the emperor. It is like different personalities are enduring different experiences, and the experiences between personalities are not shared.
What Li Shimin pursued was that the emperor's personality could be immortal and that he could be the emperor forever, rather than not having a new personality in his next life. But Tang Monk could not meet Li Shimin's small demands because there was no eternal emperor. Since that was the case, Li Shimin was no longer interested.
Other believers just listen to something new and it is difficult to appreciate the essence of the Consciousness-Only Sect. The monks try hard to keep up with Tang Monk’s footsteps. After all, they all have a dream of becoming a Buddha. With an example like Tang Monk, the monks are very active.
Everyone knows that becoming a Buddha is good, but it is too difficult for ordinary people. It is as if everyone knows that you have to study well, go to college, be a graduate student, or even be a doctoral student. But how many people can do it? Becoming a Buddha is more difficult than becoming a doctoral student. Just getting started is already at the level of a doctoral student, and working hard throughout your life may not necessarily succeed. The method of becoming a Buddha in the Yogacara school is enough to make people discourage it.
It is quite reliable to make a vow to chant Amitabha Buddha in Pure Land Buddhism, but it is a bit too much for the Yogacara school. If you can’t learn it, you can’t learn it.
