Chapter 30 The Light and Color of the Dinner Party (2)

As cars arrived one after another, guests arrived one after another, and the number of people in the banquet hall gradually increased.

The Sprouls arrived about half an hour later.

Linda Sproul, wearing a red dress, held his father's arm and began searching around as soon as he entered the venue. After finding Evan's place, he let go of his father and walked towards him.

Father Gordon just smiled at each other with his wife, and did not stop his daughter from acting.

Linda held a long skirt in her hands, moved her lotus steps lightly, floated across most of the venue like a flower, and came to Evan.

He was standing in front of a band, pretending to enjoy the beautiful music.

"Good evening, Evan!"

Looking at the sound, Evan's eyes lit up when he saw Linda who was carefully dressed up. The red dress made Linda look enthusiastic and full of vitality. While making her skin and cheeks look much whiter. Paired with the complementary crystal earrings and gem necklace, it is beautiful and infatuated to make her fall in love with her at first sight.

Evan lost his mind for a moment before responding, "Good evening, Linda. Well, you're so beautiful tonight."

Evan's praise was very simple, but Linda was still a little embarrassed. She smiled shyly and said, "Thank you!"

The two stood side by side, and after a while, Linda asked, "Evan, why are you standing here alone?"

Evan said: "I'm tired of shaking hands with someone, so I'll take a break."

Linda smiled softly when she heard this and said, "Evan just wanted to be lazy. The banquet hasn't started yet, so there are so many people."

Evan shrugged, "Okay, you found it."

A waiter walked past them with a drink. Evan recruited the waiter and took two glasses, one for his own use, and one for Linda, "Come on one? I remember you like to drink orange juice."

Linda was stunned for a moment before taking the high-legged glass, put it to her mouth and took a sip, and said quietly: "Orange juice is rich in vitamin C, but... don't drink too much!"

Linda's words seemed familiar, and what Virginia reminded her was the same, and Evan felt embarrassed when he heard this.

Alas, I just can't control this mouth.

Evan took a small sip to hide his embarrassment, and then skillfully changed the topic and said, "Virginia seems to have discovered me, I have to go through, do you want to be together?"

"OK!"

Linda happily agreed.

The two of them put the orange juice that had just taken a small sip and walked towards Virginia together. As soon as they left, a waiter came over to take away the used cup.

With the arrival of the guests, Evan could no longer fish and would be brought out by Governor Warren to the guests from time to time. Evan knew that this was his father's kindness, so although he was a little uncomfortable at the beginning, he soon got into the state, responding calmly, with the style of a big boy. With the blessing of his father, Evan met many bigwigs from all walks of life that night.

Among these big guys are bankers, such as Wells Fargo president Isaiah Herman, Bank of California president Thomas Sain, and Bank of America chairman Brian Donofrio. At a time when federal laws strictly restrict banks from cross-state operations, these people can be said to be the God of Fortune in the entire California. If Evan's career wants to expand rapidly, there will always be a day to find them.

Or they came to the door.

Among these big guys are social activists, such as Michael Greenwood, head of the California office of the American Manufacturers Association, Baker Philip, head of the Labor Federation in California, and Bruce Langston, head of the California regional office of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Evan was a little scared of these people. Whether it was the working class represented by the Labor Federation or the racial division hidden behind the NAACP, they were the focus of the entire United States in the future. For Evan, who likes stability, they were trouble, but in order to avoid trouble, Evan had to deal with them well.

Of course, politicians are indispensable among the big men introduced to Evan. Among them are not only a group of California Republicans, such as Earl's partner, Lieutenant Governor Frederick Hauser, Republican star, Earl's admirer, prosecutor Goodwin Knight, etc., but also many Democrats, such as Mr. James Roosevelt, who came very early. At this moment, Evan has learned that he will come to California to settle down shortly after he just took off his military uniform. In addition, there are former Governor Olson, current California Attorney Robert Kenny, San Francisco's prosecutor Pat Brown, and actor Ronald Reagan from Los Angeles. Among these people, Evan is only impressed by Ronald Reagan, an unknown actor.

There is no way, he has heard of this name even if he is ignorant. The current Democrat will switch to the Republican Party in the future and become president in the 1980s with the support of the California Group. During his two terms, he made outstanding contributions, not only creating the longest peace period in American history without economic recession and economic depression, but also dragged down the Soviet economy through "Star Wars".

Of course, Reagan has just left the reserve service and has not officially entered politics yet. He is just a small person in the banquet hall where bigwigs gather. The reason why he is lucky enough to attend the banquet is because he not only has the title of director of the Film Actors Association, but also has made considerable contributions in the just-concluded reserve service career.

However, facing Reagan, Evan was just a little curious and didn't show any fuss. After all, who knows whether he can "re-up" the position in the future?

From 1945 to 1980, there were 35 years between them. During this period, no matter how careful his butterfly was, the storm caused by it would not be much smaller.

Unless he is "corrected" by the world in the middle.

During Evan's "passive" expansion of his connections, Carl finally arrived. His ticket was "buyed" in US dollars.

There is a "donation box" at the entrance of the venue, and you can get the ticket if you donate a certain amount. This money is enough to cover the cost of the dinner.

Of course, this does not mean that everyone can stuff money into the box. Before that, someone checked it.

This is what Qiao does.

It was almost six o'clock, and Earl's most respected guest finally arrived. He was the 73-year-old Joseph Noland, the guide and mentor of Governor Warren. He was accompanied by Joseph's son, William Noland. William just took over the seat of the senator of Congress in August this year, and Governor Warren appointed him.

The overwhelming "greetings" came to an end and the banquet was about to officially begin.

The emcee walked onto the podium. Before she could speak, the guests stopped tacitly and formed a small circle around the podium.

The Warrens are at the closest place to the podium.

After a simple opening remark, Earl Warren was invited to the podium to give a speech.
