Chapter 658 New Economics
Ten years ago, a group of French economics students wrote an open letter to the school's professors and the school's teaching directors because they were dissatisfied with the teaching of economics in the school. The contents are as follows:
We, the economics students at the university, declared that we are generally dissatisfied with the economics teaching we received. The reasons are as follows:
1.
We want to get out of the fictional world!
In order to deeply understand the many economic phenomena faced by modern people, most of us chose to engage in economic research. However, economic teaching is neoclassical theories and methods in most of the content, and in general, it cannot meet our expectations. In fact, this theory has taken the pretext of not considering contingencies from the beginning and has almost no necessary attention to facts. Empirical content—historical facts, institutional functions, and research on economic people’s behaviors and strategies—has almost non-existent. This gap in teaching and indifference to specific reality creates great difficulties for those who hope to benefit the economy and society.
2.
We oppose uncontrollable use of mathematics!
Using mathematics as a tool seems necessary, but when mathematics itself is no longer a tool but becomes its own goal, seeking formalization of mathematics will lead to a real schizophrenia in the real world. Formalization is easy to construct problems and manipulate models, and the significance of the model is limited to finding 'good results' for writing an "excellent paper". Under the guise of science, this habit is conducive to evaluation and selection, but it can never answer the questions we have raised about the modern economic debate.
3.
We require diversification of economic methods
Usually, questioning the content of the lecture is unauthorized. Of all the methods of studying existing economic problems, there is generally only one method to provide us. This method claims to explain anything with a purely axiomatic program, which seems to be the so-called economic truth. We do not accept this dogma. In order to adapt to the complexity of the research object, we need a diversified approach to deal with many major issues in economic life, such as unemployment, inequality, financial market positioning, the pros and cons of free trade, globalization, economic development, etc.
4.
Call on teachers to wake up as soon as possible!
We are fully aware that our professors are subject to certain constraints. However, we are to appeal to all who understand our requests and hope for change. If major reforms are not implemented immediately, the risks arise that are too great that the declining economics students will abandon this field as a whole, not because they have lost interest in economics, but because they are isolated from the reality and debates of the world today.
We no longer want this so-called science that is out of reality to impose on us.
We are not making things out of nothing, we just hope that good ideas will become more popular.
Therefore, we hope to get a response as soon as possible.
A few days later, France's LeMonde reported the incident and made long sympathetic comments on students' demands for reform. Other French newspapers, magazines, television and radio stations also reported on it.
A few weeks later, some professors from various universities in France launched their own petitions, clearly supporting students' reform requirements for economics teaching and further analysis, and the professors' petitions also called for open debate. More than 200 economists joined this camp, and the petition event ultimately shocked the entire French education and academic circles.
In this case, the French Ministry of Education announced that the French education department should take these dissatisfactions very seriously and establish a committee to investigate it. French Minister of Education Jack Lang later appointed famous economist Paul Fitoussi as chairman of the committee of investigations and ordered him to submit a research report within one year...
The vigorous international economic reform movement began in France and soon spread across Europe...
Two months later, the first publication of the Post-autistic Economics Review, which guided and introduced the sport, was published in the UK. Just one month later, when the second issue of the Post-autistic Economics Newsletter was released, its subscribers had grown to 36 countries, and later to more than 120 countries and regions around the world...
Five months later, the International Conference on "The Future of Economics" was held in the UK, and the entire international economic reform movement was pushed into depth...
A year later, 27 PhD students from the University of Cambridge published an open letter to "Open Economics" in public support of the movement.
Subsequently, at the University of Missouri, Kansas City, USA, 75 students, researchers and professors from more than 20 countries discussed the state of economics for a week. The result was a similar way to publish the "Kansas City Recommendation", asking economists around the world to overcome rigid concepts about human behavior, seriously consider cultural, historical and methodological issues in their research, and conduct interdisciplinary dialogues.
Immediately afterwards, more than 700 undergraduate and graduates at Harvard University signed a petition to the Department of Economics at Harvard University and issued the "Harvard University Humane and Responsible Economics Student Organization Declaration" according to a similar idea to French students...
Everything seemed to be in full swing, but the interest groups were unwilling to let the wild fire turn the world they built with lies into ruins.
Due to the huge impact of the international economic reform movement on mainstream economists and vested interest groups, the movement was subjected to a fierce counterattack soon after it began. Most mainstream economists took an indifferent attitude towards this, and with the development of this movement, indifference then became hostile.
At first, those economists who have won the Nobel Prize in Economics and claim to represent authority began to jump out one by one, expressing criticism and negative views on the sport...
Then, Western media under the control of capital and interest groups began to ban all reports about the movement...
Then, a large net unfolded, and the economists and student leaders who supported the movement began to encounter various problems from reality.
All the big companies and banks closed the door to these students...
Those economists' articles can no longer appear in publications...
Those international academic conferences held blocked these people from the door...
Many people are facing more and more troubles in their work, and are dismissed, collaborators tear up cooperation agreements, no longer invite them to serve as consultants and deliver speeches...
Even the French Ministry of Education and the famous economist Paul Fitoussi finally published a more conservative economic teaching reform report under the suppression of external forces.
The result was that two years later, the students, professors and economists who initially launched the movement, except for a very small number of people who were still in the economics community, and in the end most of them had to leave the economics community sadly.
This is the cold reality.
When the international economic reform movement was vigorously abroad and the mainstream Western economics encountered unprecedented crises and doubts, in ZH country, Western mainstream economics was being regarded by some as the Bible and scientific dogma that could not be changed in a word, and the vigorous international economic reform movement seemed to have occurred on other planets, and it had nothing to do with ZH country, and everything was so ironic...
There is only one person, a young man, who walked into the school gate and said that "There are always some things in this world that need to be changed" relying on a computer connected to the dormitory, thousands of miles away from the ocean, logged on to the international website of this movement, subscribed to the electronic magazine "post-autistic Economics Review", and paid attention to the international economic reform movement that had already fallen into a trough at that time. In the hearts of the young man, it was a fire that was about to be extinguished, and could only emit faint heat, but the young man saw a trace of dawn of a new world from that faint heat...
Three years ago, at the beginning of the Dawn Plan, Long Liexu, who had already felt that he had the energy to reignite the fire at some point in the future, came to France alone to meet with the leader of the movement, and talked about several issues related to the international economic reform movement. Long Liexu pointed out the problems that existed in this movement from the beginning to the present.
First, the biggest source of the failure of the international economic reform movement is that it is too high and too few, and there is no "close connection with the masses". At present, the largest masses in the global economic stage are not in Europe or the United States, but in the vast third world and developing countries. From the beginning, this movement has not specifically considered the special needs of these developing countries in economic development and the specific problems they face.
Second, the spearhead of this movement is directed at the United States and Wall Street's use of economics packaged by them as the pillars that support American financial hegemony and the war to complete foreign economic plunder and brainwash through economists. It touches the fundamental interests of the United States and Wall Street. However, the movement positioned itself in the transformation of the academic field and did not realize that this is not only a problem in the academic field, but a fundamental problem in the entire society and the global economic field and political field. The leaders and initiators of the movement do not have enough estimates of the arduousness and complexity of the struggle that the movement has to face.
Third, the entire movement does not have a strong organization and leadership organization, without the most authoritative voice and strong economic backing, and will never recover when it comes to a blow, and people's hearts are dispersed and it is difficult to overcome difficulties. If we want to push this movement to the whole world and have a more profound impact on reality, we must form a strong authority and leadership organization to guide and plan the movement internationally. This organization must have the ability to support and unite a large number of economists and scholars who support this movement so that they can make their own voices in the economics and academic circles.
Fourth, just as France explored and enlightened the global socialist process, the current ZH country has become the largest socialist country in the world, although today's international economic reform movement was born in France, in the end, the only country that can make this movement bear fruit and make this movement have the greatest impact on the world is the ZH country. Because the development path of ZH country is destined to subvert the international political and economic structure that only benefits a few people, just as the international economic reform movement must subvert the old and Western economics that are beneficial to only a few people. The two have completely consistent expectations and goals for the future.
Long Liexu's words completely conquered the leaders of this movement...
Subsequently, the International Economic Reform Movement Committee was established, which became an authoritative leadership organization guiding the International Economic Reform Movement. Two economists from ZH countries became members of the committee. At the same time, a fund called the "International Economic Reform Movement Foundation" registered in the British Virgin Islands began to provide huge financial support to the International Economic Reform Movement Committee.
The spring of the international economic reform movement is here...
This time, the international economic reform movement began to usher in a new life in a different way than before...
Three years later, the Feilen Cuihuayuan was launched, and global currencies have now entered the era of mixed gold standard. Asian financial storms are raging, the US economic crisis suddenly broke out, and the world seems to be in chaos...
But some people, in this chaos, saw a glimmer of dawn of a new global financial system...
On April 2, the first Global Economic Reform Conference, chaired by the International Economic Reform Movement Committee, was held in Canghu City. Nearly 10,000 participants and economists from more than 200 countries and regions around the world gathered in Zhendong University to participate in the grand event and plan the future of global new economics...
The day before the conference, after Canghu met with several old friends, Long Liexu took off Zhou Tianxing Dou on his body, waved his hand, quietly returned to Yandu without any trace of wind and thunder...
