Chapter 31 The Black River (2)
Tieling Fort is located on the banks of the Tie River. It is a small tributary that flows into the Heihe River, but it provides vital production and living water for more than 3,000 people around Tieling Fort. People who came here to pioneer here have built seven or eight large and small reservoirs based on this river and some nearby streams and wetlands, and then transplanted a large number of trees here, turning this desolate land into a very meteorological emerging town.
The construction of Tieling Fort began with the urgent demand for high-quality alloy metals in the East Coast Republic. In that era when the industry began to burst out its unique vitality, the East Coast people were extremely eager for durable, strong, high-precision and special-purpose parts, which led to the launch of the Tieling Special Steel Base Project. At the same time, the construction of the Northwest Railway was undoubtedly invested and built to communicate the connection between the only large manganese ore on the East Coast and the eastern coastal areas. You must know that this railway trunk line, which is hundreds of kilometers long, consumes a lot of manpower and material resources. If it were not for the great long-term interests, the East Coast Executive Committee would not have made up the determination to build it. With that capital and energy, it would be better to extend the Luomei Line to Qingdao Port, which is a line with gold flowing.
After investing huge sums of money for several years, the Northwest Railway was finally built to the entrance of the Tieling Special Steel Plant. The ironmaking workshop of the Tieling Special Steel Plant has almost passed the initial trial production stage and will be fully formally produced various ratios of ferromanganese and ferromanganese in order to promote the comprehensive upgrade of the domestic machinery and machining industry in the East Coast.
The factory has an iron-making blast furnace and a steel-making open furnace. In addition to the final commissioning of the steel-making furnace, the iron-making furnace has now met all the conditions for formal production: the machinery and equipment are intact, and the raw materials are piled up in the factory area. Even technical workers have been trained several times. In the first half of this year, various grades (different ratios) of iron manganese produced by Tieling Special Steel were put into trials for various units for a period of time. According to the feedback, the improvement of the strength, hardness, flexibility and other aspects of the metal are still quite significant. The iron manganese manganese in Tieling Factory has been initially recognized by everyone.
Ma Jia himself is also very concerned about Tieling Special Steel Factory. He comes to the factory almost every week to discuss various matters with the factory leadership, which is a perfect emperor of the factory. However, Ma Jia himself is a professional metallurgy and has been with the steel factory for many years before traveling through time. He has a deep attainment in the metallurgy industry. Some of the suggestions he put forward to the Special Steel Factory are also more pertinent.
For example, considering the difference between smelting manganese and pig iron (iron can be completely reduced, but manganese cannot be completely reduced), Mavu told the factory's technical department of the few well-known manganese ferrostear ore ratios. After that, Tieling Factory conducted a large number of proportions under the guidance of Mavu and obtained many valuable original data. After comparing and summarizing these data, Tieling Factory has basically figured out the proportion of manganese ferrostear placed in the furnace and the proportion of manganese in the corresponding waste slag in the production process (manganese cannot be fully reduced, a considerable part of manganese will enter the waste slag, so choosing a suitable manganese ferrostearine ratio to reduce the content of manganese in the waste slag is an important technology). These data were all spent a lot of time and money by people from the East Coast. They have been explored step by step through massive experiments, and have been recorded. Locked in the office of the factory's craft department and used as a high-level confidentiality of the factory.
Of course, Tieling Special Steel is the first domestic company in the east coast - and the only one in the world - to produce ferromanganese manganese, and there are many problems at present. For example, because the manganese ore found currently is not of great grade (low content), these have greatly influenced the recovery rate of manganese, the load of coke and the energy consumption, which undoubtedly raises the cost of ferromanganese. In addition, some impurities (mainly phosphorus) in manganese ore have also caused great trouble to the steelmaking workshop of Ping An Iron and Steel Plant.
Since the successful production of ferromanganese, Ping'an Steel Plant in the Yazihu River Basin in the northern region has abandoned some high-priced additives imported from Europe and started to use ferromanganese as deoxidants and alloy agents required for steelmaking (this can not only reduce costs but also reduce the harm caused by trade blockade). The instability of manganese ore quality will inevitably affect the production of ferromanganese. Once the quality of ferromanganese is reduced, it will inevitably increase the amount of ferromanganese during steelmaking, which will add a lot of phosphorus and carbon to the steelmaking process, making the steelmaking process more troublesome, and the cooling range of the steelmaking water will also be expanded, increasing the energy consumption of steelmaking without any reason and increasing the steelmaking cost.
Fortunately, Tieling Special Steel Plant has recognized these problems. On the one hand, they began to look for manganese ore veins with high manganese content and few impurities nearby, and on the other hand, they began to increase technical investment and prepare to optimize the production process through a large number of experiments and strive to stabilize the quality of manganese and ferromanganese.
There is a reason why so many people in the East Coast Republic attach so much importance to manganese and manganese steel. At present, the emergence of manganese and ferromanganese has greatly improved the quality and reliability of various machinery. For example, the simplest sliding bearings have greatly reduced the wear level and greatly enhanced their life after using parts made of manganese and ferromanganese alloy. All usage departments are extremely satisfied with this. For example, after some steam engine cylinders are made of manganese and ferromanganese, they have proved that the pressure that the cylinder can withstand has increased greatly and the output power has increased significantly, which invisibly increases the "thrust-to-weight ratio" of the steam engine.
A while ago, the first heavy machinery factory that had been relocated to the Tieling Mining District, under the personal command of the factory director Li Hongxing, worked together to create some new manganese and iron steam engines. These steam engines have gained a push that is far beyond the past without increasing the cylinder volume alone, which shows that the efficiency of steam engines produced on the East Coast has reached a new level, which is of great significance. At present, the factory is spending a lot of effort to verify the technology, and the next step will be to design and produce new steam engines. After they are finalized, the three major domestic shipyards will be their first users. The designers of these shipyards will design a new ship model based on the volume, weight and horsepower of the new steam engine. This new ship, whether it is horsepower, tonnage or speed, will undoubtedly surpass the various existing models on the East Coast.
The development prospects of special steel and machining are booming, but as the chairman of the Northwest Reclamation Bureau, it is obviously not enough to be satisfied with a special steel and machining base. In the plan of this former Central Executive Committee, the jurisdiction of the Northwest Reclamation Bureau will take Tieling Fort and Melo Fort on both sides of the Heihe River Basin as the core in the future, and move westward and northward to connect this inland hinterland with the outside world, so as to build many settlements in this area into a prosperous city comparable to the coastal one.
In this plan, Tieling Fort, an industrial town that produces both manganese, iron, gold and other metals, as well as coal, and also has strong machining capabilities, will mainly develop westward and continue until the estuary of the Wujiang River (a river port where large ships can be navigated). At that time, the rich agricultural products and external materials in the Wujiang River Basin will be transported to Tieling by railway, and Tieling's commodities and energy will also be transported to the port on the Wujiang River by railway, and then shipped to the outside world. I believe that if this plan can be realized, it will be a great good thing for both the northwest and Wujiang River areas.
As for another key node, Merlot Fort, in Magu's plan, it exists as a transportation hub. Magu thought that after the country's financial surplus in the future, he would once again promote the third and even fourth phases of the Northwest Railway. That is, build a branch line from Melot Fort north to connect to the hilly areas of the lake, organically connect the rich Yazi Lake basin in the north with the hinterland of the southern grassland, and connect the local economy to the hinterland. If possible, Magu even intends to build this so-called branch line into a railway trunk line, and try to extend the farther north as possible. This is also beneficial to the Executive Committee's development of the hilly areas of the lake. I believe that if the central government's finances are not difficult, it should not be difficult to build.
Of course, before "fooling" the central government to spend huge sums of money to build the railway trunk line, Maqin thought it would be better to enrich the population within the jurisdiction of the Northwest Reclamation Bureau first. After all, if the population is not abundant and the productivity is not developed enough, even if Maqin has face, the Executive Committee will not openly invest huge amounts of money in such places where birds do not shit, right? After all, there is no such thing as the Tieling Mining Area that must be developed quickly on the east bank. If the reasons are insufficient, it will be difficult to convince the Executive Committee.
Under this guiding ideology, Ma Qi intends to grab a population with several other regions (the capital area, Xiling area, Wujiang area and other seven regions). Today is early October, and the group of Polish female slaves purchased in Europe, whom Mo San has arrived at the east coast under the escort of a few naval ships. After this group of people arrives, the population of the East Coast Republic of China will reach a record 195,000, a surge of nearly 30% compared to last year, catching a group of officials from the Executive Committee and the Immigration Department off guard.
